Hi all what would be s good card to go to after the rx580 red devil.

I havnt got much money so most of the money will be from selling the card and purchasing one with that money and a bit more added to it.

Not sure how much my rx 580 is worth so any suggestions on the price range ism looking at would be great thanks :)

FYI

Ryzen 1700x
16gb ram.

Or should I be looking at the cpu ?

It's a terrible time to buy with a mining boob. You could probably get £250 for your 580 right now on an auction site but it seems impossible to get a new card right now for the most part

Your best bet is getting a Vega or 5700 for 200-300 on gumtree if anyones selling it for that. It's about a 50% improvement in performance.

You didn't talk about resolution

Is it a super high refresh one? As I would have thought a 580 would max out most games bar Cyberpunk at that resolution

Monitor might be a better upgrade for you if you have a cheap one, just going to a TN to a 100hz VA is notable in colour and refresh. Ultrawide is a great experience too

My monitor cost me like £399.... like 12 years ago hahah

Yes maybe then. I have heard that you can see a difference between the refresh rates maybe I'll look into it. Any thoughts on a cheapish monitor ?

What's your monitor spec?

I can't recomend competitor sites, but I reckon you can find the best buy by googling:

"electriq 34 ultrawide" - theres 2 of these, the more expensive is 144hz, the cheaper is 100hz. I have a 100hz one and it's one of the best upgrades I've ever made

The thing is you'll probably ideally want a GPU upgrade to power it. If you can find a Vega or 5700 on Gumtree for less than £300, snatch their hand off for it, pay postage or whatever if there isn't one near. Because right now you can sell the 580 on an auction site or free adds for £250ish

I think this is my monitor

And so do u think my gpu won't work with it? It won't be as smooth etc I guess ?

And when it comes to monitors what is the 1ms.. its like 144mhz 1ms.. just I see some like 75mhz or 100 mhz with like 4ms.. that bad I take it ?

It's a terrible time to upgrade. Just take a look at this.....▷ Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Pulse OC 8192MB GDDR5 … | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

I nearly bought a used one of these for my daughters PC a while back, it was £80 if I remember correctly.

If I were you I'd try for a 3060ti FE for £369. Not sure when they last dropped, or if they will drop again, but if they do and you could bag one, then it's easily the best GPU for that kind of money.

If you could get 250 for your card, then a 1080 (non ti) on the second hand market seems to be so far less affected than other cards. You can still get one of them for around £300 - 350 and they are 60% + faster than a rx580.

The only thing you have to watch is your PSU, but as both cards are similar power requirements (185w vs 180w tdp) you should be fine.

But despite the performance lift, and even if you got £250 for your card, it's still probably not really worth it. A used 1080 could be as old as 4.5yrs.

The only hope of improvement right now is a crypto crash!
