*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

So...how is everyone's evening?

It's pretty chill right now, I'm about to play The Division 2 after dinner. I was eyeing on the RTX 3070 AORUS Master for days, then they were gone just before I wanted to put it into the basket, but there was a new stock from the Vision OC which I was hesitating to buy because of the white shroud on the side (almost everything is black in my H510, the EK AIO 240 Basic is on its way to further darken the interior). Before I closed my work laptop at 5:50PM there were still 10+ in stock, but 10-15 minutes later all of a sudden every single one of them were gone...plus, the price of the Sapphire RX 6800 cards (Pulse, Nitro+) was increased by 20 pounds. I was thinking of buying one of them, but even for the same price as a 3070 I was not sure if I want to deal with crappy AMD drivers again. Thanks to the price hike I no longer have to make this decision. Also, there's a new stock of the MSI RTX 3070 SUMPRIM, but it's massive and I've read a bunch on complaints about coil whine, so probably I'll just keep my 2070 Super Founders Edition after all.

how do Asus in there latest offering of tuf 3080oc's come to a delivery of 12 cards !!! supposedly they know from ocuk about the number of people waiting in back order queues?
so why are the numbers so low? beginning to wonder if there is a spirited effort to keep people waiting so long that they cancel, that way the pressures then off nvidia and Asus and ocuk don't lose money, sorry! conspiracy theories are running wild now after so many months!! :p
I am seeking help:D

Your order is on hold at number XYZ, when the hold is removed it will still be at number XYZ.
Queue position means to me that you (Y) are after X and before Z. So, if it does not change, you will still be after X and before Z, when they remove on hold status. I can be wrong, but this is what queue position means in programming. Queue index is another thing...

I can understand why it is confusing to so many people.

Edit, it can mean both... I am confused myself.

Hah well you tried at least, and in software development it is a literal - > so no this hold applies in how it is stated. Otherwise we'd never have multithreading.

I bet they created covid too right? isn't that how those theories go?

Nvidia don't sell them direct any more as far as I know. I got one last week from a site like *redacted* for £660 next day delivered so they are out there. Just not direct.

They were still showing up on nvidia's store as of yesterday and it used to then send you through to the competitors website to actually buy one when they were in stock, not sure how we are supposed to know when they get stock of them now as they arent actually listed on the competitor website at all it was a separate hidden page with a different url for each stock drop and this was linked to from the nvidia page when they had stock.

Probably to fend off scalpers.

There's been multiple people say this, or something to that effect. not to be a busy body but what I'd like to know is:
Did you order two cards, one from here, and one from the competition on the same day, or did you try it at a later date? Just wondering as every other decent supplier in other EU countries have shut up shop long ago, long before OCUK did. Possibly the reason for the back order in the 1000s here.
Did you pay over the top for the card? MRSP set by Nvidia is not realistic according to the info the OCUK lads have supplied, which sounds fair tbh. However €1000+ is an awful price as well, the 2080ti was awfully priced. the 3080 is a better card, but it should cause in the 2080ti territory. how much did you spend on the card?

just wondering if there hope elsewhere. I'm at 10xx in the TUF non OC queue, and a lot of places don't stock the ASUS cards. Obviously no mention of who you go it from, that's against the rules here. just some details. if there is a back door, I wouldn't mind knowing. could free up a spot here for folks.

I ordered the card (EVGA) from one of the main competitors to Overclockers in the UK on launch day (like I said in my post) I paid £660 delivered. Only ordered one card from one supplier. No hope elsewhere, if you bought on day one you have a chance. I would set up a bot via discord for stock alerts if I were anywhere above 100 in the queue myself.

... or you could just believe what Gibbo said about this...

Ireland orders are not losing their queue positions, those orders are held with stock assigned, once the DPD issue is sorted by DPD, then those orders will ship, to my knowledge a card is assigned to your order if your queue position is met, so stop worrying. The courier and Brexit issue is out of our control and is being sorted by warehouse logistics and the couriers of which I am not privy too.

Thanks for the quote! You should have a look at what I originally said and edited after when I had found more information in this post. There really is a wealth however its a 1730 page thread - it's a little cluttered Teal.

Being called a liar by staff is another matter - its in an official email without rebuke. Its not a case of belief, or a competition to who can search through thousands of replies.
If it wasn't accurate, then follow it up - communication solves the problem.

It gets better, just noticed all FE cards vanished form NVidia's UK website. Makes me wonder if it's because of brexit and import shenanigans or they actually stopped producing them. But there goes MSRP set by NVidia - gone for good with FE cards.

I didn’t read the original email the way you did though.

Keeping your position in a queue for me means you position relative to others as the queue moves taking you with it.

... but in any event it seems like you should be OK.

Yeh all good - vaccines on the way that's all I wanted this year :D

There's already big delays and much smaller number of vaccines expected than ordered. I wouldn't expect most of the population to be vaccinated till end of 2022, realistically looking at it. Same with new high-end GPUs - likely most people that want them won't get any till 2022 or so.

Pre-orders again... I bet they took the money, half of it goes to the black market and they send weekly email updates.

I remember a post from ScottiB a few days ago that he was frustrated that board partners weren’t allocating cards to retailers based on the number of back orders. We need to harass board partners on social media to allocate OCUK more stock!
