Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

When people say "Friday" for the short call when exactly on Friday, at opening or closing or what? In a stock this volatile 5 seconds can mean the difference between getting out alive and eating super noodles for the next 5 years.

(To be clear I'm not holding any GME)
It won't be immediate. It can't be, there aren't enough shares and the halts will kick in anyway

GameStop market cap is now higher than Best Buy and HP. How much higher can it go?! I thought I was lucky to sell at $150 :p

Haha yeah, i thought i'd done well buying/selling the dips, but then the lack of liquidity yesterday forced me out permanently!

I just need to keep telling myself i more than doubled my money which is good, rather than crying that it could've been a lot higher

It's worth watching this to understand why some people thought it wasn't actually going to die

GME is basically trying to become internet cafes where people can hang out and play games together.
like a place for your clan to meet and game together in esports or whatever.

no internet cafe business ever survived in the west? even when people had dialup at home

theres youtube videos of the new stores btw and how they are.

I have 0 faith in that business model and they will surely downsize whenever the pandemic is over like most companies probably will

I think there is a gap over there in the "Games Workshop" type territory.

Omega Sektor in Birmingham had a great go at this but just couldn't make the business model work. Maybe eSports will change that.

If you get out of a trade with a profit, you've won. Soon as you start thinking in what-ifs, you'll end up making bad decisions.

Doubling your money in a short period is exceptional. Take your winnings and be happy about it.

It wasn't just that at all. Just skip 1 min in and look at his notes.
He even says this was a 5 year play while the current console cycle still have physical media possibly outdated by 10 year and definitely 20 year timescales.

Fundamentals and financials looked decent enough too. They weren't on the brink of death. Seemed like a solid play and a genuine guy. He deserves every penny of his $50+ million he'll be taking away from this

you can't buy shares only sell

AMC added as the same now.

Existing ones can be reduced or closed, erm, wtf, am I reading that right?

Yeah i am, i need to get out of the "what if" mindset, and i'd been doing really well in recent months being confident in my positions and not getting carried away with a particular share and sticking in 75% of my portfolio into a single thing i thought would increase and the increased risk that brings. Something i suffered with a few years ago.

I have set an auto sell once market opens:

GME @ $500
AMC @ $29
NOK @ $10
CRSR @ $50

See if any of those hit today. :)

The free and open market

So basically the rich guys that are set to lose money have called in favours from those that they know and someone somewhere has okayed them basically putting a stop to the lot..
So its fine for them to make money and manipulate the market and cause companies to fail but if the man on the street does it, they have an issue with it...

Wonder how many will panic sell now to get out and who will hold...

yea it means you can reduce your holding or sell all your shares, just not buy more

so expect EU folks to sell GME and AMC in panic, someone said nordnet closed GME too

t212 terms say they can loan out your shares, so they probably borrowed them to people like Melvin who maybe go bankrupt

Most of these retail investors are going to lose. That's a fact. When the dust settles and stories about people being made homeless and bankrupt because they gambled all their money away on a pump and dump start hitting the media, it's the brokers that will be sitting in the regulators crosshairs.

It has been a fascinating read for sure. There will be more blood spilt for the mob of retail investors but it really scares me that the big players can pull these tricks to stop trading just because it isn't going their way

Its musical chairs right now... when the monumental dump happens, systems will crash due to demand and a lot of people will be trapped.
