Does the mobo I've been delivered need a BIOS update?

Hi, apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

So basically the mobo I've got from OCUK is this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-6fc-as.html#

I was under the impression I would probably have to do a BIOS update on the mobo, but now its arrived it has this sticker on it:

Does this mean I don't need to do a BIOS update on it to use the Ryzen 5 5600x cpu I bought from OCUK?

I did try ringing OCUK about doing a BIOS update last week but was on hold for about an hour unfortunately (although understandable given the pandemic)

Thanks all
Hamez

I mean if it says it’s 5000 series ready, it’s probably 5000 series ready... so no it doesn’t need a bios update.

There is no harm in updating the bios if you want to, being a relatively new chip there are ongoing improvements at the bios level so having the newest version from your motherboard vendor is no bad thing but it looks like it should work out of the box.

I always check to update the bios as part of just basic build protocol. Things like motherboards can be sat in storage on shelves while numerous updates that fix and improve performance.
I'd rather remove issues being caused by outdated bios straight off the bat.
Bios updates aren't as hard or scary as they used to be say 20 years ago.
Asus Motherboards have a nice easy method for doing it.

If you are up and running fine on installed bios maybe wait until next non-beta is released?
I haven't actually built it yet, waiting on the case to arrive. I'm just not sure if I'll need to update the BIOS straight away in order to use the 5600x. And then if I try using the flashback button bios option, if I go for a non beta release (going back to October release) that I will be putting a less up to date BIOS on there. Am quite confused

All of those since october are Beta releases, should I not download them as they could be unstable?

I have the exact same motherboard bought a few weeks ago and did update to that latest beta and it's been working fine for me so far. It's quite easy to update so why not.

5000 ready means just that drop the cpu in and away you go if any problems after that then update. You will be able to check bios version in the bios.
