After a fruitless search trying to purchase a G1/4 threaded funnel to make filling my loop easier and safer, I decided to 3D print my own.

Screws directly into my top fillport, and has enough diameter to allow a small tube to prevent splashback.

Would there be any interest for forum users for these?

Not raining on your parade but just an FYI - I got a flexible funnel with a G1/4 male screw from Phobya. Don't remember who I bought it from. Making the top flexible is critical if you want to be able to screw it into the spare inlet on the top of most reservoirs as a hard plastic funnel won't go side by side with the inlet tube.

But good for you for creating something like this!

Yeah, I saw they made one, but it seems you can't buy these anymore for love nor money, hence why I made my own.

Available on the auction site from Germany so they're around £20 shipped.

So definitely worth there being a local alternative

G1/4 barb with soft tubing on the end, then a funnel on the end of the tubing works great. Stopped using that though since i got one of these:

My last build was I admit made much easier with a filling bottle, not only for filling but also using it to suck fluid out of the reservoir.

I got one of these for my first custom loop, how good are they at getting the fluid out of the system and are they an alternative to a drain valve?

Not an alternative to a drain valve, no. But in the previous version of one of my builds the drain was a t-piece without a valve, just a stopped port. To drain the system meant using the filler bottle to suck as much out of the res as possible and then turning the case on its side so the stopped port was now the top of the loop with a empty tube behind it. Open port, attach tube, right the case, drain away :)

The squeezy bottles are great. You can buy them in twos or threes and they're useful for other thigns too. My spare one I use to water my succulents!
