Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 memory storage capacity

Hi all, my current phone is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 3GB + 32GB (https://www.mi.com/uk/redmi-note-7/specs). I do not currently have a memory card in it (just the SIM is in the SIM/memory card slot).

I would like to record some videos using the camera and I was wondering:

1. Will I need a memory card to record videos that will be up to 2 hours in length? There is currently around 10GB free space on the phone.

2. If I need one, what size would be appropriate? (I do not know how much space a video of that length would take up)

3. What cards are compatible with the Redmi Note 7?

4. Roughly how long would it take to transfer a video of, say, 2 hours from my phone to my computer using USB?

5. Would you recommend using my phone to record or should I get a separate camera? If so, do you know any suitable cameras I could use?

Many thanks in advance!

Edit: I will be recording playthroughs of some board games in case it matters for answering the above.

1) Depends on the video recording settings, but 10gb should be fine if at 1080p 30fps.

2) You can get 128gb microSD cards pretty cheap these days.

3) microSD up to 256gb.

4) Again it depends on what the video recording settings is set as, but it should only take a few minutes (the phone is limited to USB 2.0 speeds).

5) Depends on how well lit the area will be, I suspect the phone won't do well if the room is too dark. Why not do a test recording and see how you feel about the quality of it?

Thanks. I tried to do a test and the quality looked ok, a bit of glare on the cards but I think it was just the angle. I was also holding the phone in my hand which I don't want to do as it is not steady and when I am playing the game I will be seated anyway. Can you recommend a suitable tripod/clamp device to get an overhead view? I was looking at these two but I'm not sure if they will hold my phone or how high they can go.

For reference, I am trying to get a view similar to the view in this gaming video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10DSqEC0GZQ

Edit: and when you say the cards are pretty cheap, how much roughly does that mean? And how much video can they hold? I am will just shoot at regular quality (whatever the standard is for my phone, I don't think I have changed any settings since I got it)

If it's facing directly down then a tripod won't work. Search for a gooseneck phone holder and that offer more flexibility on recording angles.

128gb micro SD cards are roughly £20 on the rainforest. That will be able to hold roughly 20,000 photos/30~40 odd hours of videos depending on camera settings. This is a wild estimation based on the phone specs.

Thanks so much. That gooseneck holder looks ideal. Do you know if they are sturdy enough to not move about when recording? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lonzoth-Un...GQ4XZR/ref=psdc_1340853031_t2_B077QLQ3PB?th=1

Do you recommend any particular micro sd card? I Googled and saw a 64GB one made by Sandisk for ~£16. I'm not sure what the difference is between Ultra/Extreme/etc. Or whether another brand would be better... https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Adapter-Performance/dp/B07FCMBLV6/ref=sr_1_6?crid=18SA696OYEWEK&dchild=1&keywords=sandisk+64gb+micro+sd+card&qid=1612546410&s=computers&sprefix=SanDisk+64GB+,computers,201&sr=1-6&th=1

I have a gooseneck holder for my tablet, and it's pretty sturdy. Looking at the reviews for the one you linked, it seems fine.

For 1080p 60fps then ideally you want a microSD card with fast speeds, this is what ultra/extreme/etc means. The one you linked is V30 rated (V standing for video), meaning it can sustain 30mB/s write which is what you want.

Just a heads up, the Extreme Pro version version is on a special deal at the moment on the rainforest for £13: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Adapter-Performance/dp/B07G3GMRYF

Thanks for the heads up! What is the difference between the version I linked to and the Extreme Pro version? I presume the Extreme Pro is better in some way? And so getting that for a cheaper price for the same amount of memory as the one I linked to probably makes sense?

Thanks as well on the phone holder comment. It looks like it should fit my phone type/model.. I just hope it extends high enough from the table to get a clear top down view of what I'm trying to record..

Edit: is the Extreme Pro definitely compatible with the Redmi Note 7 phone I have? I looked at this site and they only have the Extreme version listed, but I'm not surr if that's just because they only sell that type.. https://www.memorycow.co.uk/mobile-phone/xiaomi/redmi-series/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-mobile-phone

And would this one be any better or are SanDisk better? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-mi...&qid=1612601447&sprefix=samsung+evo+64&sr=8-3

The Extreme Pro has higher burst speeds for both read and write. Makes more sense than the normal extreme especially as it's cheaper at the moment. It will work with the phone no problem.

The Samsung you linked only has 20mB/s write, that might be too slow for 1080p recording.

Thanks. I presume the Extreme Pro is compatible with a Redmi Note 7 since it's a SDXC card?
