Gigabyte 3060i grinding?

Had my Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING 8GB OC a few weeks.
Sometimes while watching video, I hear a grinding like noise, like a fan is scraping against something.

While playing a game I've not heard it and I've used Aorus engine to turn the fans up and it doesn't happen, just when I'm streaming a video.

Anyone else had this kinda thing?

Could be faulty fan bearing I suppose. The thing about fan bearings is they can be noisy at just one very narrow band of speed, so they are silent while turning slowly, then as they wind up they can become noisy, then go quiet again.

My gigabyte 3070 was so noisy I had to send it back. Went for an MSI card instead and it's totally silent...
How did you manage to get a replacement in stock!?

Took the card out. There's a wire that was slightly hanging out the bottom. As the card covers the motherboard chipset fan, it might havel been catching that. Pushed it inside so hope that's sorted now.

I just returned the card and got another one off a different supplier.

Still hearing some grinding. Moved card to another slot, uncovering the chipset fan. See how that goes.

It's still doing it grrrrr. Started the returns process but there's nothing in stock to replace it.

Maybe worthwhile asking support for authorisation for fan removal incase it in just the fan power cable or something catching . they might let you attempt a self repair amid stock issues. No harm in trying i suppose

I took the card out and had a good look. Looks ok. Seems this has been a common fault with Gigabyte cards over the years.

Adjusting the fan profile has fixed it for some and thought it had mine, but heard it again since.
It's just randomly when the fan starts up or slows down I think.

time to RMA it mate , i had the same issue with a3090 strix which had a buzzing fan and was annoying as hell ... Took me another month of stress and waiting and checking the forum for daily delivery updates  Absolute hassle but for the money we are paying they should be perfect .... my replacement has been spot on :)

Retailer, (not OCUK), tested it and returned finding no fault. 10 mins after installing it I get the grinding noise and it keeps doing it.

That’s not good. :(

Can you try using software to control the fan speed and set it to a higher speed than you hear the grinding at ?

Why don't you record the noise, or do a YouTube video and show them evidence, and return it then. Its probably cheap ball bearings, fan motor.

That way you have proof. If needs be, get in touch with trading standards if the retailer fails to Act. However, before that perhaps contact Gigabyte direct? With evidence.
