Saw one of those new Defenders in Bridgenorth the other week. Thing is enormous, an absolute tank. I was surprised how much bigger it is than the old one!

Hit a cow a few years back, bent the front bumper on my Scania a good few inches back (it was basically a steel beam, no crumple zones back then) it lay still for a while then got to it’s feet and wandered over to the grass on the verge and started munching.... :D

Remember playing golf first thing quite a few years back and looking down at the train tracks a mile away and seeing train stopped. Turned out first train of the day had hit herd of cows on the track. Several cows killed and the train was derailed!

Indeed, quite a bit wider I think too. Good job they’re not used down country lanes...
I wonder how much a wing mirror costs compared to the original?

They are basically the German version of the Defender. The old one that is, not the new one which has been a complete fail.

I think he means the new Defender. He's completely wrong of course. The new one has been a great success for JLR. :)

I don't think I've seen much except praise for the new Defender. In fact, I recently saw a couple of Smoking Tire videos...one where they went up an offroad trail in the new G-Wagen, and were impressed at how effortlessly they managed it.
Then a couple of weeks later, they did the same in a new Defender, and found it to be even better - quite significantly quicker up exactly the same trail. And at no point did they even get out to assess the trail, as they did with the G-Wagen. Speaks volumes for the confidence it inspired.

And Harry Metcalfe seems to have given it the seal of approval too. And as both a motoring journalist and a farmer, I'd say his opinion counts for more than most:

I'm sure it's not perfect but hardly a "complete fail", unless you're wrapped up in nostalgia for the old model ;)

Yes and the number plate has to be about 1.5" to the right overwise it would be over the top of it :/

Bless your eyes can’t factor the GB is part of the same plate either.... which is central ish, blame the private plate. It’s just the yellow portion which appears offset.

He's obviously read something about the Disco's plate being off center somewhere and is hoping to get that sweet sweet street cred by parroting it here, not realising he's talking about a different generation of Disco altogether :D

What lol. The "yellow portion" is well... the entire plate.

Face facts. Some numpty made the model badge too big and now a standard size UK plate won't fit the space. Oops.
