I’m looking at an approved used Volvo V90 T6 from a main dealer. Everything so far has looked good except I just noticed it is badged as a T5. The dealer is insistent it is a T6, the DVLA have it down as a T6, and when I put the ref into the various insurance comparison sites it comes up as a T6.

The dealer have said they will replace the badge. I really like the car but this is sufficiently weird enough to make me think twice. Has anyone ever heard of a car coming from the manufacturer with the wrong badge?

Could just be a mistake, could have been rear eneded and wrong badge replaced.

Presuming the type approval/spec plate usually on the inside of drivers door will have the right info?

T6 is awd isn't it compared to T5 so should be obvious on inspection.

I've heard of all sorts wrong, my mum for a new car with the wrong dash in it.
If the specs otherwise are correct I wouldn't worry about it but I would check everything is supposed to have is there.

My mum’s previous new car came with a different numberplate front to rear! Neither the dealership nor my mum noticed. I spotted it a week later.

I’d be inclined to think it’s more likely a dealership mess-up than a manufacturer one, which as above leads me to think that it’s had some work on the tailgate.

I hadn’t considered that it could be a result of a repair. I’ll give it a close look. Could be a good bargaining point.

It’s a Cross Country so they are all AWD and I don’t think there are any other discernible features on the outside.

Run a VCheck just incase it’s been through salvage without being recorded. Main dealers frequently show up selling unrecorded write offs

Yeah agree with crash repair... BMW Chester put a 530d badge on my 535d. Have a good look around boot area like on Wheeler Dealers!

Checks out. This is the pic from the dealer ad:

Also, now you've shared a dealer pic - have you seen the car yourself in the flesh? Is it possible they've just included a pic from the wrong car?
That was my initial thought but the car in the pics has the correct plate.

I haven’t seen the car in person yet, not helped by lockdown as it is out of area. I’ll be getting a virtual walk round of it tomorrow and I’ll ask for a close look at the boot area. It comes with a 30 day /1500 mile no-quibble guarantee which makes it more palatable to inspect after purchase. Far from ideal but circumstance dictates.

A friend of my dad had a 2litre Laguna as a company car which arrived with 1.8 badges on it.

However my dad had an Alfa which was involved in an accident. His was pre facelift but it came back from the repairers with post facelift badgework.

I'd ask a few questions and insist on confirmation in writing that the vehicle has not been in an accident. It's one of those situations where Id did a bit to see weather they remain helpful or start to get defensive.

Hawk eyes!

On the full size pic it looks like it’s an intentional placement in a curve. Same for other examples too.

Just googled it. Looks way too high compared to any stock image from google. They're all level.

Deffo had a boot replacement. As long as it's tidy and straight though nothing to be worried about?

Yeah I’m not too fussed as long as it’s fixed to a good standard. But whoever put it back together last time got it quite wrong so I think it requires a close inspection.
