Incorrectly badged car at main dealer

Yeah I’m not too fussed as long as it’s fixed to a good standard. But whoever put it back together last time got it quite wrong so I think it requires a close inspection.
Getting the t5 badge wrong is understandable... Getting the Volvo text wrong is downright bad workmanship. It presumably comes on a stencil?

I think it requires a huge discount, then just de-badge and enjoy your bargain :)

I think the question I'd be asking is for them to provide details of the accident it was involved in, what damage was done and details of the repair.

Either way, as long as the repair has been done to a good standard I'd not be too worried about it, but still use it as a bargaining tool!

There's a good chance they have no knowledge of any accident though. I presume if it was only minor it wouldn't be recorded anywhere.

This may well be the case, but highlighting it to the dealer and asking them questions which they maybe cannot answer is only a tool to enhance a negotiating position.

I think i'd be quite concerned about the workmanship. I can accept mistakes happen and an incorrect badge applied, but there's absolutely no excuse for them to mess up the Volvo branding.

@OP is this particular car priced lower than similar comparisons? If it isn't, then i'd walk away and find one elsewhere that likely hasn't been in a crash (or at least repaired to a much better standard).

It’s a rare spec at a middle of the road price so I’m keen to get it if the repair is up to scratch. They don’t come up very often.

I’m calling the dealer later to find out more. My understanding is that when I highlight to them it has had a repair, they’ll have to declare it if asked by any other customers? If that’s the case it might strengthen my negotiating position.

It's always the rare specs that get you tied in like that.

They can't lie about it, but as another poster mentions, it's quite likely they won't have the details of the crash - i.e. if they're part of a main dealer network then it may have been repaired elsewhere and just shipped to them repaired for sale. So the extent of the detail they might have will be yes it's been in a crash, and yes it's been repaired.
 
Has anyone ever heard of a car coming from the manufacturer with the wrong badge?
VAG cars (Octavia, Golf, etc) are supposed to have the TDI badge showing different letters in red, to reflect the BHP.

For example:

TDI
= 90HP,
TDI
= 110HP,
TDI
= 130HP,
TDI
= 150HP​

However, they went through a spate of putting the wrong badges on, to such an extent that no-one relies on that any more.
 
So whoever did the boot replacement put the Volvo logo too low and at a curve? I don't know why but i'm crying with laughter at that, it's like they were drunk and high when they stuck the letters on, it looks awful! :D

Having said that i'd happily take the car if it was what I wanted, that the work was done properly apart from the above and that the dealer puts the logos right.

Yes, there is a Vauxhall Insignia RS Turbo down the road from me:D

I called the dealer to ask for more info. The car is coming direct from Volvo as the one previous owner and they don’t have any information available. They theorem they put forward is that it had some fairy minor paintwork rectification from a “Chipsaway” type of outfit prior to being returned and whoever did that got the badges wrong.

They have committed to a full inspection of the area and to rectify anything with reason that doesn’t meet my satisfaction. On that basis I’m going to go ahead with it. Worst case scenario is that I find something dodgy after taking the car in which case it goes right back to them.

i was under the impression the colour coding only worked for VW specifically.

ie the colouring on seat/skoda/audi had a totally different meaning.
 
Could the previous owner 'debadged' his car and someone reapplied the badges rather than the car having been in an accident? That smiley Volvo badge is awful. You'd be better debadging the car yourself rather than drive around with that curved monstrosity!
