*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Went from 799 to 793 for the Asus Tuf non oc. I’d consider myself a pretty patient person, but even I’m starting to get a little impatient.

To be fair, dlss is genius

The problem I have with DLSS is it allowed a game like cyberpunk to be considered a good game on the PC platform. The engine is trash, it turns a 1080ti into a 1080p card as an example.

To me DLSS is good if it allows a card to over perform, but it shouldnt be used to mask a horrible performing game.

Since DLSS requires a dev to implement in their game, it then also gives devs an excuse to short change on optimisation.

Luckily DLSS is now a plugin for the Unreal Engine. "It just works" as jensen would say

Couldn't you say that about any of the graphics computational overhead shortcuts engine developers have been using ... since the beginning of engines?

DLSS is no doubt great, but isn't perfected yet, and the same can be said for Ray Tracing. Likely the next gen, or the one after, is when both will really shine. Currently I am most interested in bare rasterization performance and the 6800XT is often on par, and even ahead of the 3080, and on some games, even goes past the 3090. That slight advantage over the 3080 will likely only widen with more mature drivers.

if I'm being honest, the 6800xt is the king card for my money this gen. Cheaper (at least at RRP), lower draw, and in many cases, more powerful.

They just need to start making them, because they are no where to be found.

Did someone mention cluster f * c k earlier? Here's a picture of one, or 78 to be exact

About £10k a month according to a poster earlier so roughly 6 months payback on all those juicy 3080s
* should have added of course, if the miner then stops mining and sells them all, he/she pockets £80k+, gulp!

Weird, when I checked the metadata for the image of the mining rig it comes back to an industrial estate in Newcastle-under-Lyme, just off the A34? :D

Its rare i get pulled into the what if tin foil hat crowd, but i do wonder if 5 months later my £700 payment just got used as a bitcoin investment & this entire bag of **** for the past 5 months is someone making money of my preorder, that £700 is now worth how much?

If i put that £700 into coin back in september
...................ive a rough guess it would now pay for 2 maybe 3 3090's

I'm not a happy bunny.............Zotac did a switcharoo on us..............the whole slap ya money down & then get a new line superceeding it take all priority stinks...............you cannot take orders on launchday, then sell ones released after before, i wont mention names but they atleast upgraded to a comparable version that was shipped

Actually considerable more as bitcoin has been breaking records recently. I know a friend of mine put in a small amount of money a few months ago she can now buy a good-sized house with her portfolio value it's really insanse.

I still have not seen a clear reply to why OCUK was a priority partner yet is clearly not, as most updates state the cards come from distributor and they are not the Nvidia UK partner for FE cards?

I agree OCUK have been shafted by Nvidia supply but so has OCUK's marketing!

The RTX 3090 is the biggest waste of money! £1900 retail for the 3090 compared to £750 for the 3080. But the 3090 is only like 2-3% faster in games:D.

Nvidia are trying it on again!

So as to try to keep my hopes up I have a question for anyone
Then do ya think me cards coming?
3rd 3080 master
Literally doing this out of boredom and fun

I think he means "where is the money coming from to buy the cards in the first place?" You need to find $78k up front to build that rig.

They have competition, AMD (although they aren't exactly rolling in stock either), AMD's cards are just as powerful as Nvidia's and offer a slightly better price/performance ratio. However, Nvidia are controlling the market with technology.

There's only one reason why you should buy a 3080 over an 6800XT, Ray Tracing, a technology which nobody cared about a little over two years ago but Nvidia did an excellent job of selling the concept so that enthusiasts lust after it.

Then there's DLSS, a technology which essentially tricks your eyes into accepting upscaled textures in order to deliver higher frame rates.

Nvidia succeeded in moving the market to suit their technology rather than creating tech to suit the market. It's genius really.

Isn't that 2 reasons, RT and DLSS? Also a third reason is if you have a G-sync monitor (likes me)... I know I can change monitor, but swapping out a £1k ultra wide does mess up the maths if trying to save a few quid buying a 6800XT rather than a 3080, though comparing the original RRP for those is pointless at this stage.

Okay this is a joke now... I know it Chinese New year but I feel like I would have had my card if overclockers didn't take more orders after the 3080 mess up... Like great you've cleared all those 3070s orders after we have been waiting months.... I feel like I understand why ocks have there profile pictures as gangsters kinda not a great look when they have Riped as many people of as they have lol.. thanks overclockers because of your greed I'm now 6 months without a work station broke as can be, basically I'm **** thanks overclockers, and if your response is cancle your order I wish I did when I still could have picked a Graphics card up at a reasonable price
I have made the mistake or personally atacking certain members of staff in the past but it's clear it's nothing to do with the individual but the company as a hole it's going to take many years to win back the trust of the people.. 6 months ago I had nothing but good things to say about overclockers I'm really hoping they can save their reputation before it's to late.
