How likely am I to get a Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 at MSRP?

I was very happy with the news of the hash rate being halved for these new GPU's, I don't give a damn about crypto mining and just want to complete my PC build so i can finally play Total War games.

My question is, will I (an average customer) be able to buy one of these RTX 3060's at launch?

Will I need to adopt any strategies? Will I need to bribe someone? Hire a Russian spy? Pay a PC world employee in sexual favours?

Is there anything I can do to better guarantee I will be able to buy one of these GPU's 'for gamers'?

450/470£ is my guess... not worth it at that price, in my opinion...

Decided to buy a second hand 770 for 65 quid and I'm playing total war without issues, just saying... the way this is going, we are not gonna be able to buy anything at a normal price in a while... I think your better chance yould be wait until 17.00 with the retailer's page open, refresh at 17.00, and hope for the card to be put at its MSRP and to be able to complete your order...

Your chances are not great, though.

Nice you buy a console equivalent graphics card at the price of the whole console. Same for AMD the 6700xt is not much better on paper than the X box X card and it will probably cost at least as much as an X box X. PCMR! :D

can't mine with a console, clearly real gamers buy consoles - desktop graphics cards are for mining :D:D:D

Oh and wait until the 6Gb cards will come. Everyone is arguing that 10Gb is not enough for 4k but a lot of people will pay tons of money for the 6Gb cards which will only work okish on 1080p. And they will also be a part of PC master race. :)

Meh I'm just not bothering anymore.
Gpu prices have killed pc gaming for me. I'm sitting on the hardware I've got. It's just not worth it anymore for me.

I totalled up the cost to bring me up to spec.
It's a full rebuild. A few years ago that would be fine. 1k.
Now, even before scalping the gpu alone eats over half that. Add new hard drive, mobo, cpu, ram. Yeah. No thanks

Be paying 1.5k to 2k+ for a few FPS an to turn the detail slider up

It really is better to have a laptop and a console now rather than a pc for 'gaming'

Up to spec in the PC master race is 4k 120hz+ and the gear to run it.

Anything else is just the PC race :D

the actual proper price for standard cards set by nvidia is supposed to be 300 quid. reality probably 600+ once all the retailers either staff company buy them or miners grab them. think people will get round the mining trick. even if they dont because no one can get any cards because of gouging scalping mining any gamer wanting to upgrade will snap them up. so think they will all be gone by about a minute after launch.

going to be interesting to see the excuses of retailers this time...:p

The official RTX 3060 MSRP is even more unreasonable than the others to speak frankly. None of the manufacturers seem able to get close. Our cost price on the cheapest card available to us is more than Nvidia's MSRP. If you hope to get one as MSRP then the subsidised founders cards might be the only realistic hope. That said, I expect some manufacturers to offer launch support for a handful of units at MSRP but we definitely aren't going to play that game again, we've been burnt too often already this year.

As it stands, we've taken the decision not to open up 3060 for sale on launch day. We aren't willing to risk a repeat of the previous launches.

Scott just because the AIBs haven't priced close doesn't mean they couldn't. How is it they were able to produce 5700XTs for £400 or 1660 Super's for <£200 less than a year ago?

The AIBs are scalping plain and simple. There's nothing that OCUK can do about it but please don't disrespect people here by repeating this bull****.

A plain 3060 for nearly the same price as a 3060Ti, all of which are higher than Nvidia's FE price for the 3070, is a joke no matter which way you spin it.

This!

We shall re-visit the 3060 in March and maybe make available from then and only for product in stock.

Pricing is an absolute shambles, either MSRP's are been very miss leading or AIB's have drastically increased their profit margins on product, either way as Scott says MSRP is below our cost price on even the cheapest cards.
