Thanks to Nvidia I now have serious psychological problems

PC running 24/7 for $8 a day, I'd rather just stay in work an extra hour a day.

You forgot not everyone lives in UK.

Here in Romania minimum wage is around 200E, personally im averageish ( 2 jobs, round 1200e / month), but even then, extra 200e or more for doing nothing?

Just imagine how much it means for the minimum wage people in other poor countries.

thankfully i got my ps5 so can just play on that, work on my pc and let it mine in the rest of the time.

a lot of people will end up broke with this mining fantasy. There is no real money to be made here no matter how many copy and paste batch articles you post here.

Let’s try keep it light hearted folks, I think the thread is devolving in to a crypto thread, when it was all about starting a gofundme to cure my mental problems :D

People said that 10 years ago
If those people had put £100 in back then instead of dismissing it, they would be almost millionaires now

I agree, you would have made more money, but that has changed considerably! Mining coin is played out, very old news.

Big companies have 30 card plus setups mining and professional mining groups out there, the single average setup cannot compete with the big boys and there are tons of other reasons why you would end up broke.it all will not add up, then boom , you go bust.

Hypocrisy burns doesn't it.
You tell me? I'm the one pointing out that you managed to criticise people for their "arrogance", then go on to claim that people who don't mine are 100% in the wrong not to do so :p

And then follow up by accusing the non-mining audience of hypocrisy.

It's beautifully delicious.

You think you're traumatised.
I've spent half the weekend going through every cupboard and container in the house looking for another pcie cable for my second pc. All I wanted was to swap the gpu so I could try playing skyrim VR in a bigger space.
I found it after emptying half the shed. There were huge spiders and big vicious cats. And when I got it all running the game was full of huge spiders and big vicious cats.

Well I started mining 6 weeks ago. I have twice transferred 0.0025 bitcoin into euros and then into my bank account. So I have £170 in real sterling GBP in my bank plus another £120 worth of bitcoin in my wallet at the current prices which I could transfer right now and be in my bank account tomorrow. Sure if you buy bitcoin with real money, or never cash in some of the bitcoin or ether you have mined then you run the risk of losing money, but if you cash in parts as you go along then of course there is real money to be made.

I'll point out too that I have invested £0 into mining. There were already 4 gaming PCs in my house, one each for me and me 3 kids. We mine when we're not gaming so usually only 1 or 2 PCs mining at any one time and I leave the 2 PCs with the 5700 XT and 6900 XT on overnight. Electricity costs are around 20% of takings. Cards are significantly down clocked when mining. The 6900 XT draws 148 W and the 5700 XT only 98 W.

I hope it goes well for you.

But your claiming £40 a week mining with 4 PCs, so what about the increased electricity bills for running 4 PCs, What if some cards start artifacting/burn out.

If a card burns out as you would have lost out and what about your electric bills for keeping 4 pcs on the go.

Wish you best of luck!

I'd presume that a downclocked card will not hammer the vram quite as hard as at stock?
Currently the cost of electricity is a lot less than the profits. I'm mining on my 3080, but the heating in my apartment is electric panel heaters. Mining produces heat (250 watts or so), so that's heat which the heating system doesn't have to produce. Or in other words, all the time that I would have put the heating on in my office & the nearby rooms, if I can turn it off due to mining then the electricity is 'free'.

Not sure whether this thread is a mickey take or what but seriously if its not get a life. :D

Just waiting for the BBC News Article "Mining Crypto ruined my life".

Total mickey take and really does not belong in this part of the forums.

I expect to see someone soon on breakfast TV talking about their Crypto Mining addiction seeking help from some crank Doctor. Heck we may even see Jensen from NVidia talking about how to Mine responsibly as a counter.:D

I'm not sure but I hope so. It's the one thing I'm slightly worried about. I'm a gamer just trying to cash in a bit whilst it lasts so I'd hate to think I'm doing my card any harm. I have the core clocks down at 1300 so half the speed compared to gaming. For the memory I have a 50 Mhz overlclock applied, again less than half the overclock I use when gaming. I'm sacrificing a few points in terms of the hash rate I could get if I pushed the memory clocks higher but trying to err on the side of caution. The card run's at 57 degrees when mining so I'm hoping this, along with the lower clock speeds, is the equivalent to a comfortable walk for the card rather then sprinting all the time.

If anyone has an informed opinion regarding potential damage, not fuelled by their distain for mining, then that would be welcome?
