Hi guys, firstly apologies if this is a noob question but can someone please ELI5 if my 6800 XT is broke/not performing well because for example at 1080p in PUBG my FPS is around 120-150 even on low settings but the gpu isn't running at full speed. Should it not be running at 90%+ to get the most fps? This was a clean windows 10 install with the latest drivers.

See the log here, the core clock, the power, the gpu useage is all over.

My pc is i9 10900k, MSI MAG z490 tomahawk mobo, msi 6800 xt, 750W Corsair TX-M Series,
32GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black

Thank you in advance

It's likely that you are CPU bound running at the relatively low resolution of 1080p. It basically means that your GPU has plenty of muscle to spare but your CPU has reached the max speed it can feed it. If you use VSR in the Radeon Settings to increase the resolution to 1440p or 2160p you should see the GPU being fully utilised.

This chart lists FPS for a number of cards and CPUs for PUBG. Whilst your specific set up isn't included you can see that the best there is under 130 FPS so if you're getting up to 150 then that feels about right.

It'll certainly be cpu bound at that resolution, however from what I know of PubG I would expect a higher number than that, it's probably bound by a limited number of cores even aswell if I had to guess, as in it could be maxing out 4 of them but not scaling with more for example, that is just a guess though I don't know much about PubG to be honest. But I know it's a high fps esports title so it will be cpu bound at 1080P not GPU.

The CPU is a i9 10900K is this really a bottleneck? Last night on arma 3, the cpu useage was about 10-15%, the gpu was about 40-50% and no matter what graphic settings never went above 80 fps.

At such a low resolution yes, the limit will be either how fast the CPU can supply the GPU with data to render or an engine limit in the game. It can also be a driver or other software issue aswell.

10-15% of the CPU was likely 100% one the 1 core it supports
Not many games will use all your CPU cores

And yes, 1080p will often be CPU bottlenecked even with the strongest CPUs

Thank you for explaining, I had myself convinced there was either a software or hardware problem. When I run Furengine or heaven benchmarks it gets 99% gpu useage but on 3dmark timespy only 50%. This is new ground for me so apologies.
