Nvidia Re-Size Bar/SAM support is live for some cards, more in March - 10% performance gains

I suspect SAM and BAR provides the biggest gains on weaker GPUs/Systems.

I have not concluded same yet mate, I was hoping for the opposite, but then it would explain why nvidia never marketed it because they want you to upgrade to their better models I guess!! :)

Not sure, it doesnt make sense though that a 6800XT beats a 3090 by a 25fps margin.
Well the 6800XT also beats a 3090 in 3DMark Firestrike, Godfall, Hitman 3 and Dirt 5 in certain circumstances. This is not an isolated incident, I am just really interested to know what the technical reason for this is. The 3090 is not much faster than the 3080 so it's not surprising that this could happen because there are always games that are more suited to one architecture over another.

I doubt very much it is shenanigans (Nvidia have had plenty of opportunity to do the same with all sponsored game partnerships they've had but I haven't seen people questioning those results).

I was just about to click post on the belowand then saw there was a new post in this thread. But, i agree with what you are saying.

Speaking of which, @Th0nt, I am still waiting for your bench thread. What happened to that?

Are you referring to this users 6800 XT?

He has a good sample 6800 XT, I've seen him beat LN2 3090s in Firestrik benchmarks.

My old 6800 XT trumps most 3090s in Forza too tbh and mine was not a good sample. A 6800 XT can be a mighty fast GPU if you get a good one.

Life mate, I also got no biters so its not on my hitlist until at least three people are interested in the game/benchmark. FWIW it also seems to run like a dog on the 3090 so must be the engine as they are the same I believe.

No hurry, I have not bought it yet tbh so it will save me some money buying a game I have no intention of playing other than to run the benchmark a few times. :p

You bought an RTX3090?

@TNA you done a bad job promoting this son..

Its only a tenner buddy but grab it at some point and we can add you to the top 10! :p

Not in Odyssey, the RTX cards are ahead there vs the AMD stuff. Valhalla seems to much prefer the AMD stuff so will be whatever has changed in the engine since that would make a nice comparison if it was understood what may work better with one family of cards vs the other. Both do use Anvil 2.0 but Valhalla is DX12 while Odyssey does use older DX.

That said, Ampere does come into its own at 4k, recall hardware unboxed video on this and architecture does seem to lend itself to that somewhat. I imagine resizable bar may be able to claw back some of the gap further but expect the AMD stuff will be king in Valhalla, which is good IMO to keep things interesting :)

I am not sure what this means? :p
I was giving him a hard time about it as he was banging on about getting a 6800 XT and he is always going on about price for performance, so it was somewhat surprising (bizarre?) seeing him get a 3090 :p

But these are not normal times. Prices are crazy, stock availability is poor and he likes his mining so he will probably have most of it paid for doing that :D

Old style rasterisation most likely, Firestrike is a old benchmark that was replaced by timespy. The games listed are not known for impressive visuals - not to say hitman3 doesn't look good I think it does but the games aren't using the most modern effects work

This was available on my MSI B450 motherboard a month or so ago and sounds like 3000 series CPUs work with it as well? Is it available on 2000 series Nvidia GPUs yet? Guessing this will need a bios flash as well.

edit: just saw above post, is it only going to be for 3000 series Nvidia gpus?
