RRP for for 3900FE is £1400.
On eBay it’s insane the prices people are willing to pay for one ...
Selling these latest GPU on eBay will result in heartaches. People are all too willing to scam you.
Thus the stupidly high prices.
Apparently people can return the goods within 6months of purchase with PayPal and doesn’t have to give a reason.
peole buy the cards and use it for 6month to mine - get about £1500-1800 then return the card to you. Profit.
If the crypto is still high then repeat and rinse. Otherwise definitely return card to get money back.

I imagine most people will only do exchange in hand and cash.
Also you are unlikely to get 1500 back from 6 months of mining, the difficulty is ever increasing fast at the moment.
ya profitability is pretty poor right now.
99% is still paypal payment. i dont think ebay lets you use bank transfer as a payment method and if you offer delivery than Paypal has to be it
That is not how it works. You can use something similar to charge-back to get money back within 6 months but only in speciffic situations like dead product with clear factory fault, where commercial seller refuse to accept any responsibility etc. You can do similar things to buyer as well. There is such protection both in PP and credit cards (charge-back) but it's not that easy to use - there has to be a genuine reason and not just "I want to return it" and it can be fought against too by the other side. These cases can drag for months at times and even if PP decide to take money away from the seller and give to buyer, buyer's bank can revert that or it can end up in small-claims court too. It's not as simple as you described.
whats stopping these poeple from shorting out the card and render it dead and then starts the process with Paypal?

They can just send you some junk of similar weight and then you're stuck in a "their word against yours" situation with no guaranteed outcome.

Law - that's a fraud. Yes, you can say who cares about the law - but that's with everything in life. What stops anyone doing the same to their GPU bought from normal store, not long before warranty goes, and getting a new card (possibly even new model) or money back? The thing is, they are risking this will be obvious and easy to detect and in such case they won't get the money back (or it will be charged back to the seller), or might end up in court again. Plus there's a big difference between private sellers and business sellers along with a big difference between used and new product - in what legal options buyer has later.
PayPal isn't stupid. They will try to protect the consumer but sellers are also their clients. If it starts to happen more often and patterns will be clearly visible, PayPal will start investigating and simply refusing or procrastinating returning money till product is checked nothing dodgy is found. Otherwise, they risk losing money or being dragged to court (also a money loss) - I've seen them reverting decisions quickly when that happens. Fraud usually works only when people do it in small enough amount that nobody takes notice. The moment they get cocky people will notice and clamp down on it.
I have to say I have been at the end of some erroneous claims in the past. PayPal has always sided with the buyer. One buyer bought a pair of shoes started claim with eBay as item not received then changed it to item not as described. Then eBay just struck it down as the delivery was clear and the shoe had been with them for 4 weeks. Then they went to PayPal and started the same process. I gave PayPal all the details of eBay ruling they didn’t care. So they took the money from my account and out it in hold and asked me to pay for the return postage and refund soon as item was received. I refused and took over a month of protesting to PayPal numerous calls to get them to ask the buyer to post it back to me at their cost. That’s when the buyer knew the game was up and didn’t want to risk the cost of return etc.

And in the same situation if the buyer returned the shoes actually PayPal would have straight away refunded without questioned asked. The buyer could have even sent a man empty envelop with a tracking number then PayPal would have even accepted that as proof that I have received the item back and there is no way for them to know otherwise and no way for me to proof otherwise either as there is no witness or recording of the item weight etc.

Stopped using ebay years ago. Someone in the USA won one of my brother's items. It was sent and received correctly. The buyer claimed that my brother didn't send the correct item and filed for a refund, meanwhile keeping hold of the item they had won. Its a shame when people try to scam on a platform like ebay which if used correctly would be good
I have sold and bought many items on eBay, I would say 95% of the items I sold have zero issues. The other 5% for sure, they are people trying to defraud me and some gets past the eBay and PayPal system as they know the system. Some won’t past muster. The odds are really stacked against you as a seller when it comes to dispute situation with EBay and PayPal

Discord is always late I've never bought anything succesfully via that only when its hung around for some time i.e. previous 3090 drops

They're pretty poor for miners as the ROI is so long. They're great for scalpers though.
I would argue the 3080 and 3070 are the best margin for scalpers.
3080 is £679; you can easily shift that @ £1200+ on market places
3070 is £469; that’s is not push to £900-£1000 on market places.
So as a marked these are better margin.
for 3090fe they are sold for £1900-£2000. That’s a good markup but as a margin it is less than 3070 & 3080. Obviously if you can get multiple FE then 3080 3070 is clearly the winner. For the price of a 3090 you can get 2x3080 and 3x3070....raining it
