Hi Community,

I want to start by saying a big thank you. I know you're all passionate about computers and the like, but I am a complete panicker and the advice is appreciated!

Following on from this thread, I have sent my pc in for a repair and have been talking it over with some members in that thread. I thought it was going to be a PSU/GPU issue but it turns out that it is just the display ports on the MOBO that are not working. The repairman has suggested removing the bios battery as a workaround or using my HDMI port. I still cannot connect the dots in that I have no idea why that issue would let power flow to my MOBO only and nowhere else, preventing start up (see original thread)

In any event. I think I may go for a replacement but I am worried about getting an incompatible MOBO. I have ordered one before by mistake believe or not. Do you guys have any suggestions for my current specs below? Preferably a MOBO that is good for gaming and one that is within the price range of £4-500.

- ASUS ROG Z390 1151 Maximus Hero MOBO
- Intel i9-9900K Retail (1151/8 Core/3.60GHz/16MB/Coffee Lake /95W/Graphics
- GTX 2080 Super
- G.SKILL F4-3200C Ram (32 GB)

Any advice or input is greatly appreciated!

Reading threw your previous thread can you clarify that when the gpu is in the second pcie slot your pc works fine.

Hi Mikky

From what I can parse, the repairman I have sent my PC too has suggested that it is the third PCIE slot that does not work with the GPU. I presume that means that the first and second slots work OK.

If you believe its the motherboard thats at fault threw water damage then something like this would do.

Hi Mikky

Thanks for the suggestion. I presume this board to be on par or above my current model? I have put in an order so that the IT repairman fixing my computer can measure your suggested board against mine to see.

He is however saying that this board will only allow me to use the USB slots at the back? Is this true?

Not true No idea why hes saying that as there internal connections for the front usb, the motherboard is cheaper than your original board but wil do the job.

Your motherboard

1x USB 3.1 (one header) 2x USB 3.0 (one header) 4x USB 2.0 (two headers)

Sugested motherboard

1x USB 3.1 (Header) 4x USB 3.0 (Header) 4x USB 2.0 (Header)

If he knows that much get him to sugest a motherboard.
