*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

i saw some 3080s in stock today, MSI Suprim and Gigas

The retail asking price for the suprim was £1299, this was not a auction scalp price, it was a genuine store price ! £1299, i bought the EXACT same card only 2 months ago for £899 and that was a high price

Also the price for 3060s, omg we are talking 700+!

3090s wont even go there

auctioneers are now charging crazy pricces

Now im thought the GPU situation was getting better?!! But this is on a next level now and somthing clearly needs to be done, but nothing happening

Why cant there be a plan of action between the Manufacturers, the distributors and the retailers?> why cant they have a skype meeting and come to a conclusion

this is the craziest situation...

I have speculated before I think the AIB situation is akin to the wild west, it wouldnt surprise me if they just sending to the highest bidder. Constant price fluctuations is not a healthy b2b relationship especially on unfulfilled orders.

those in the queue still are less likely to cancel now compared to early on. In other words, if you are still here you are probably stubborn

Not all stubborn lol. Everyone has their own reasons for sticking it out or jumping ship. For me I've been waiting over a year to buy a gpu, so cancelling now would just mean joining another queue even further down the line for higher price. Or worse, and more likely, just hoping to find a card at a sensible price, which is extremely unlikely, or paying extortion prices.

I naively listened to a friend who said "wait until the next gen comes out, they will be better and older cards will be cheaper", we know how that turned out

so would I be better of getting a ps5 and then later on when rtx 3080 are floating about grab one then ? but price will be so much more from them
I be honest with you.

A ps5 is just as hard to get.

Yields and shortages on many hardware electronic is very bad.
As bad as I've ever seen in my life.

Continue to check stock discord channels etc and just grab whatever you can

ty problem is that I only have the money I have spent on the card so its like either one ! I have not been able to land a job yet ! XD

So after waiting for 6 months and gone from position 800+ to 50 you expect me to cancel... sorry but that is bad customer service. The que I’m in seems to be the fastest moving que so I think I’ll wait it out and hopefully I might get my card before the end of April.

So do you have the proof that other countries have a steady supply, or is that just a lefty rant at Brexiteers?

I do, though with AMD. There's a bunch of bots checking stock online on AMD website, for various countries. All I've seen confirm that since brexit (1st of Jan) there's been 0 things in stock for UK on that site. Meanwhile EU gets drops now and then of GPU and CPU and you can buy there older models too, from AMD website directly. In UK? Nothing, not new and not old, everything out of stock constantly. And where is the closest AMD warehouse? Ireland, as that's where my EU buddies got delivery from.

It would seem AMD itself doesn't even want to bother with UK anymore - not worth the hassle most likely. They again, at least we get Nvidia FE drops now and then for MSRP.

After all this time and no improvement, I genuinely believe that there are other reasons behind all this, and the suppliers and retailers ie Ocuk are not going to tell us, I cannot believe after all this time there are still 'shortages" - not going to say anymore but they know what's going on and unfortunately we don't, sorry if the conspiracy theory upsets people. all about retailing politics and money. what a desperate situation this has become, never ever again.

The UK seems to have one of the better drop rates for FE cards so maybe it's just AMD that's not bothering but then again OCUK did have a load of AMD cards in stock earlier in the year albeit at higher prices.

This is absolutely the case or at least it was the case when I worked in what was then a major whole seller of computer hardware many years back (we are talking when OCuk were still Esnet).

Our sales department were constantly on the phone making deals even silly things like free shipping. They would often play one off against another on high end expensive stuff. Make promises that Esnet or Watford Electronics could have the very next stock we have if they pay a little more.

I doubt it has changed any.

The only politics is us not saying things that we cannot prove. Do you honestly expect any manufacturer to tell one of their customers if they've decided to screw them over? What we think and what we can prove are very different things
Look at my comment history and you'll see that I always say what I think without openly making accusations, because making serious accusations without proof is a guaranteed way to lose my job!!!

It happens, Gibbo is the master of it. It's not as common during shortages like this where stock is allocated from the top down though. If Nvidia tell us that a manufacturer has 100 cards for us you can bet your a** that we'll kick up a fuss with Nvidia if we don't get them and that'll impact that manufacturer's next allocation.

OK another way of putting things, you cannot get the cards at the price point you want/need, you have a few thousand back orders at msrp, therefore the orders and influx of cards are kept incredibly low, time goes on people cancel cards in effect saving you money, and now you're actively encouraging people to cancel, before you actually do cancel all, does that make any sense. this is what has been going round in my head, I may be completely wrong but I do wonder.
no offence meant just looking at it from my perspective.
You are wrong I assure you.
We're not delaying or stockpiling any cards for which there are back orders.
Gibbo has been very open about stockpiling cards with no back orders (if the small numbers we have could be considered that) because, when we have a decent number we put them up for sale via a link posted on this forum.
Gibbo's comment about cancelling is not company policy, I checked with the boss, it was just him seemingly venting frustration.
As I've already said, if there's a light at the end of your particular tunnel then, by all means, wait. However, I've lost hope that we are going to be able to clear the longest queues within the next six months, if at all. We don't know how long it will be until manufacturers like Gigabyte and Asus decide to cut their losses and discontinue the entry level cards completely.
If you happen to be sitting in one of the queues with hundreds of back orders then even I would recommend that you actively look at alternative sources rather than sitting on your hands waiting.
