3090 Worth it Over the 3080??

The Assassins Creed Valhalla is a poorly optimised PC game. I don't know why you are crying about it. Again calling it how it is. The truth hurts.
Might be but it's up there with the best looking games so I guess there is a tax to that. Runs totally fine 4k ultra hovering in and around the 60fps mark on both my 3080 and 3090 machines.

WD Legions was a bit of a mess though from Ubi.

This thread doesn't seem to be delivering anything other than 3080 owners justifying why they wouldn't buy a 3090 and 3090 owners why they did :D

Or a hybrid of audience that had both, or would been happy with a 3080 but as there were none opted for the 3090. :)

You also have some trolls and axes to grind people mixing in too.

To be fair, it was always going to be as popular of that thread the guy made telling people to mine on their cards.

3090 is a really capable card BUT it's not going to be running 4K 2024 games at 60+ fps. It will still be 'OK' then but certainly not 60fps with all ultra as it can't even do that in several games today. I'd be tempted to buy it and use it and try and sell it
on later this year/early next as soon as availability of GPUs improves assuming it holds it's value until then. A great card but clearly it's pretty rubbish value compared to a 3080FE direct from Nvidia at £650.00.

Wrong

See the later part of this video from 11.30 onwards where a 2080ti shows like 27fps and the RTX 3090 is 37FPS that around a 30% to 40% increase in FPS
Nvidia RTX 3090 vs 2080 Ti vs 1070 Ti - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) - The AVSIM Community

No CPU is going give a 2080ti owner anywhere near the fps a 3090 owner gets in MSFS
Unfortunately at 4K all ultra the 3090 really can't deliver the fps needed either although if and when MSFS2020 goes DX12 things should hopefully improve a bit.

Not sure why your referring to games in the year 2024 I think all owners will have changed card or upgraded by then. They are far easier to obtain, when sites list them it can be in stock for more than 30mins before selling out - this thanks to the insane asking price. Again though, when it comes to the FE at least its the entry price your paying and not some of the AIB prices which can go to £2k.

Just gotta look at folk that post their OC on their card as a superior of what it runs at. 1440 or 4k, never see it. These days, for peen only.

A summary for all the positives will help close this thread. WAITING!

Summary
The RTX 2080 was supposed to deliver 4K gaming at a more affordable price point, but it wasn’t able to handle 60fps or more in demanding games with all of the settings maxed out.

In nearly every game I've tested with the RTX 3080 at 4K, I was able to hit or exceed 60fps.

I’ve been truly amazed with that .The performance increase at 4K from the RTX 2080 to RTX 3080 is significant. In most games, it was 60 percent or more.

However , The RTX 3090 , Nvidia's top of the line card only yielded a 5% to 18% increase over the RTX 3080, and both cards were already hitting or exceeding 60fps. Furthermore, the RTX 3090 costs more than double the cost of an RTX 3080.

The only slight pause I have here is the 10GB of memory available on the RTX 3080. While Nvidia says the average game currently uses 4 to 6GB of memory at 4K, I do worry this will jump closer to maxing out the RTX 3080s memory for future games if you want the very best settings. I would have loved to have seen 16GB here. The RTX 3090 has a huge 24GB of memory.

So it is a delicate balance, to decide which card is worth it for you.

OcUk are a main supplier so you should consider buying your card from here as they might give you a special offer in the future.;)

Some of those aren't positives for the 3090? Let matey answer as there were so many positives everyone was glazing over. I just want to see the list. (I don't think it's very long.)
From yours;
24GB RAM
15% perf increase

[+] 15% daily £ extra on mining proceeds. (if you can stomach the bs)

Yeah we believe £600 profit was mined lol, I can smell the bs from here.

;)

What are you so bitter about, exactly?

The key one is that you can purchase a 3090 at or around MSRP, while it's nearly impossible to purchase a 3080.

If you want to buy a graphics card today, it's pointless comparing against a card you cannot buy.

The 3090 is over double the price of a 3080 it should have been a hell of faster then the 3080

Never happens at top end, the two tops card are not going to be that far apart and in the case of the 8800 GTX & 8800 Ultra next to nothing that could not dialled in by a small OC.

For me the 3080 was never a purchase as of the 10GB, I have had 11/12GB for years now on last 3 cards.

why is that BS ?

i have earned over £400 since late october just by leaving the 3090 mining before i go to sleep then turning the computer off the next day before going to work.
So this is now a mining thread? Stick to the topic and post your summary. You can mine with both cards, you can mine with a Gtx 1080. My summary is below.

But surely 2x 3080s would give you +100% daily £ extra on mining.

So I don't understand people saying it's worth paying double for 15%.

There's too much concern about worth and value in this thread. It's a pointless discussion.

We all know the 3090 isn't good value next to the 3080, but when has a "halo" product ever been about value? It was the same story with the Titan. As with everything, performance is subject to diminishing returns.

The value proposition will also vary from person to person.

So the answer to the original question is somewhere in between it depends and probably not, but the card you've got is infinitely faster than the card you can't buy :)
