*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

You are wrong I assure you.
We're not delaying or stockpiling any cards for which there are back orders.
Gibbo has been very open about stockpiling cards with no back orders (if the small numbers we have could be considered that) because, when we have a decent number we put them up for sale via a link posted on this forum.
Gibbo's comment about cancelling is not company policy, I checked with the boss, it was just him seemingly venting frustration.
As I've already said, if there's a light at the end of your particular tunnel then, by all means, wait. However, I've lost hope that we are going to be able to clear the longest queues within the next six months, if at all. We don't know how long it will be until manufacturers like Gigabyte and Asus decide to cut their losses and discontinue the entry level cards completely.
If you happen to be sitting in one of the queues with hundreds of back orders then even I would recommend that you actively look at alternative sources rather than sitting on your hands waiting.
thanks for your replies I'm really not knocking anyone personally, I think you and Gibbo and all staff have done wonderfully under the pressure of the last few months, I ordered a tuf oc 3080 on Oct 7th and have gone from 918 to now 106 so am still hanging in there, I really don't want to give up now
will see what the coming few weeks brings
thanks again ScottiB!:p

@Gibbo or anyone else at ocUK I need some help and communicating by webnotes isnt doing it.

I was 4th in the queue for a ventus 3x 3080 on 24/12/20. my card arrived with you guys and i confirmed same. My order was then stuck due to DPD issues (ireland shipping). I have just had my order changed over to DHL but i have now been told that I will have to wait for more stock to arrive? my card was with you and it was said repeatedly on here that the cards would be reserved for us, thats my card that im in the queue for since launch day and waited patiently for but now it has somehow disappeared and i must wait for stock? can someone clarify whats going on please?

can anyone explain what the main issue is?

is it s shortage on components to make the cards?> because this ha never happened before, resources are still widely available on planet earth, we are covered for hundreds of years, this is for the special metals thats needed

cant be manufacturing, most of the factories are still open, but with different protocols to safeguard against the virus

cant be miners, i wouldn't think that they are buying up 100% of the cards, mining has been here and again GPUs were always available to purchase

cannot be delivery and distribution, ive ordered about 15 things, mostly electrical in the past 90 days and ive had them delivered in normal time scales

There gotta be something else in the background thats causing this mess..

Guess you live under a rock because its not even the computer parts market getting screwed at the moment, the automotive market is being screwed as well not being able to get chips for the computers in the newest cars. As for miners this is due to the hugh cryto rise thats why mining is back in full force so yes miners are one of the cause for a shortage. For manufactoring, nobody really knows. On the delivery side, yes you might recieve stuff nice and quick like a lot of us but thats because its in stock, its a different story when its coming over and getting stuck in customs due to Brexit.

my thoughts down to a tee! I just don't get it, my conspiracy theories are getting wilder and wilder!
whatever it is I'm sure money is involved! :D

Seeing the newest update has made me pause for thought somewhat - I was a little later than some to get my preorder in for an MSI Gaming X Trio and started off in the 1400's in my queue, but have worked down since the end of September to around 425. I'd previously figured I'd dig in and wait no matter what but seeing everything being so bad in terms of supply is making me wonder whether I should cancel. As people have said there are a LOT of industries affected by things going on but with things progressing as slowly as they are, and NVidia seemingly insistent on pumping out new models rather than supplying existing, is it even worth digging in and holding on for what might be an obsolete card by the end of it?

With everything from door bells to dog collars, cars to kettles joining the "smart" revolution, the demand for silicon chips has exploded in recent years. The Internet Of Things (IoT) is a phrase that has been part of my life for a decade as every major IT company looks at ways to connect the entire world. As a result, there simply aren't enough fabricators with enough capacity.

Companies like Apple, Nvidia, Intel, AMD etc require very specialist, very advanced facilities so they can't exactly shop around. It can turn into a bidding war for capacity.

Just to add to your points. Anything in high demand starts to get in short supply. I been on several greenhouse websites and all but one said there was a 25 week delivery estimate.

When people can’t spend their money on going on holiday, eating out etc they look for where they can. Hopefully summer will mean more people going outside and less tech needed.

Jesus haha, I remember during the pandemic a friend of mine in the states saying that his constuction company were having shortages on CONCRETE!

Sheds, Greenhouses, fence panels, shovels, paint, wallpaper, timber., gravel..& god forbid, like me, you want to buy some high quality hand tools...
We're far from the only industry affected, that's for sure

Exactly, at times this year it was almost impossible to get your hands on a 2x4 timber...the basis of pretty much all construction

I'm off into my "garage" to work on something for a work related mod project.
I should start asking for overtime pay

Yes there are some shortages of some components that's effecting the supply chain but the biggest issue is AIBs (Zotac, EVGA, Asus etc) are just not shipping cards to places like OCUK because they can make more money selling directly to miner's.

Your are not getting a 3080 or anything else until crypto prices collapse or your prepared to scalper/miner prices. If you have pre order it's looking like it won't be fulfilled.
