3090 Worth it Over the 3080??

I got the FE too. No point in posting as its pretty much always interpreted or twisted into 'justifying the purchase' types of sniping.

Shocking price nvidia charge, it should ideally have been £999 all day long. At least im one that didnt play into the scalpers hands or even an AIB that costs just way more. Terrible to hear how much people are parting with for either the 3080 or 3090 when it goes way beyond the MSRP.

Ed- forgot to say its even more appalling the further down the stack you go. If some on here are having a conniption for buying the 3090 @ £1399, they must be foaming and eyeballs bloodshot at the sight of people paying £600+ for a gimped 3060... :o

I could see this happening at that point and so I did the same with the 3090 having already owned the 3080

I did the same but the realisation moment was in November after missing out on a 6800XT. Regardless of the justification comments, I am very glad I have one now considering all the shenanigans and people still struggling to get hold of FE in all tiers.

The situation is horrible if you can't get a hold of an FE now - every other GPU is a huge rip off everywhere.

Mammothly so. Even the AMD cards were ripoff if you wernt the lucky 100 that could grab them on release day, it may have improved since but after they pulled that farce I looked for FE's since and the 3090 just happened to be in stock long enough to snag on that day.

My £1200 6900xt looks pretty good next to my £1400 3090 to be fair.

Still that card was meant to be £999.. is there no "6900xt worth it over the 6800XT"? :p

If you could find a 3080 for just £200 over Nvidia's MSRP, you'd snap it up ;)

I think a 20% premium for AIB feels ok in the current climate - it's less than the disparity between FE and AIB on the Nvidia side right now and in this case it offers some value in the form of a higher wattage.

Whether the 6900xt is worth it over the 6800xt is another matter entirely. You certainly need to overclock it to see any gains - I find my 3090 and 6900xt are quite even once both overclocked.

Checks local store, no 6900xt stock, asks when they'll get some, they tell me come back in 5 months, checks 3090 stock, lots of stock, buys 3090, enjoys gaming instead of waiting 5 months. No wonder AMD continues to lose market share

Sorry for the wall of text but yes I bought a 3090 in October without knowing what the current situation would be

The 3080 is a decent card except for the measly 10GB of vram, but since owning a 3090 myself, the 3080 would have been inadequate . You chose wisely, and have the best card for gaming money can buy, for the moment anyway, you won't have to concern yourself with VRAN for a long time. Now just enjoy it.

What experience and metric are you using for statement. What are you doing where you know that the 3080 is inadequate against your 3090 seeing as you've never owned a 3080? Please explain... as it seems there is a metric to which you keep referring to that no one else has sight of.

Or just stop posting dribble.

3090 isn't worth it over anything. Prefer to take a break from pc gaming than pay those prices, even pre shortages prices.

And whatever happened to the 3080ti? Haven't been following the tech news recently.

My thinking is I can probably safely have one for 6 months and sell it for little or no loss. So no biggie.
