I hope to test drive some cars in the summer (up to 10K)

Think i will rule out the Volvo due to a tiny boot

my Focus has around 396 litres with seats up, and i think thats small enough, i dont mind going a tad smaller, but not much, as like to have the space when i need it !

im likely to rule out the MK3 Focus too, due to having just 316 litres of boot space

The Mazda 3 isn't too far off, so that's a contender (love the interior on these)

The Auris and Octavias have good boot space, the Auris having 435 litres , while the Octavia might be a little too big, but has a whopping 590 litres with seats up !

any other cars i should consider ?

thanks

Like I said Civic Gen10 is the obvious suggestion.
Marmite looks though, I love it.
Best looking hatch on the road IMO.

The other option is a Golf, I’ve had 4 and 2 Octavias.

i like it too
facelift yes most defiantly, pre facelift, not so much, but I like it
they don't seem to have LEDs though from what i can tell, says EX PLUS, but there's none for sale

just had another look, just 1 for sale

Thete aren’t many accurate reviews really.
The engine is a real fire cracker, it’s very torquey and genuinely amazes me with its performance. It’s only 988cc
1st and 2nd gear are very low, they have to be to get the turbo spinning on steep hills.
It’s 3 changes to 60mph and this kills the 0-60 time but don’t let that put you off, it’s genuinely entertaining on a twisty road with its feather weight engine, grippy front end and fully independent suspension even on the base model. (You don’t get that with the Golf)
It will easily see over 50mpg on the motorway at around 70mph on a run.
We got ours cheap with low miles from motorpoint. it was only 18months old.
The model to go for is the SR, but the SE is perfectly adequate.
Ours is a SE with SR 17” alloy wheels in Silver.
If you do nothing else add it to your short list and test drive one.

thanks, but im changing cars because i'm in need of an auto box now

think the Auris and Focus are CVT boxes as well ?
should i avoid CVT boxes all together ?

I can’t help you with CVT or Autos, I’ve only driven one years ago.

I don't know what a torquey little 1.0L is like auto wise - but IMO if you are going auto a bigger engine or at least an engine with generous torque - makes driving so easy - though modern autos are a vast improvement over older ones but coupled with a smaller engine is a very different experience to a more capable engine.
