Chaps looking for a motherboard that will give me the below, my current board can only do 16 speed in the main slot and 4 speed on the other - any ideas please.
2 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (supports x16, x8/x8) I think this is what i require.

Thank you.

What sort of processor do you have?
Basically your low/average tier boards are almost all like the one you have, a main slot that does x16 and a second slot that does x4.
If you spend a bit more for a mid tier board then in most cases you'll end up with one that has three x16 slots that work at x16/x0/x4 or x8/x8/x4. You need to read the small print on the specs for whatever board you get, because now that we have PCIe drives (NVMe), then they also use PCIe lanes and can complicate issues.

I just bought a board that does what you seem to need - MSI MEG x570 UNIFY, but that's only any good if you have an AMD chip you want to put in it.

What is it you want to use this for, out of interest? Adding NVMe RAID or something?

Some crazy idea with as you said a NVME raid whilst not killing the pcie slots as I mine and game.

I mean, if you really want to get into it, with 2 graphics cards at 16x and 3 NVMe cards at 4x, and the potential for another 4 NVMe cards or two more GPUs on the 8x slots, you need to go X399 and get yourself a Threadripper.

Those things have PCIe lanes out the wazoo. Bit of a cost of entry though - about £300 for the board and the starting price for the processors is about £1k
