3080ti 3070ti confirmed for April

Some of us have never used a bot to buy a card, its fairly impossible to buy a nvidia fe at the moment without a bot. The only time was when 3090 stayed in stock for a few hours sometime back

I bought mine without a bot. Just checked constantly

Then you got lucky, i only got a 3070 on the off chance as i was looking a 3080. The german nvidia store had drops for the 3080\70\60ti\90 yesterday, the 3080 was gone literally as soon as the alert popped up. The rest followed soon after. If you're after a 3080fe then you have more or less seconds to try and grab one as thats the card it seems most are after.

You literally need to be sitting by your computer waiting for it drop now days.

And even then its pure chance if you get through all the hoops in time. Filling in the captcha before the appear so you can skip that step only seems to last a short while. More than likely by the time you get to the checkout the cards already gone.

I know I was very lucky. I just find it hard to believe that people who checked as often as I did before securing a card still believe there was zero chance of getting one.

I took a week off work after preordering a Zotac then dedicated my time to finding an fe. Decorated my bedroom and refreshed the NVidia page every time I put the roller back in the tray for more paint.

ran out of paint and continued to check the NVidia site as I walked round b and q then finally saw stock in the queue and paid there and then.

On the first drop I set an alarm and had my dad looking too. That was a shambles and card security scuppered me.

Be interesting to see what the uk retailer for fe's does when these finally appear, will owners of the original 3 series be able to buy one or are they still blocked as they own a previous card?

They will be still blocked, because their system is setup to basically only allow one 3000 series AIB or FE now. They use to allow you to buy 2 x 3090s because of SLI, but they even stopped that to one 3090.

Anyways we will see if these so called cards appear, I don't see any reason for Nvidia to sell 3080ti at the moment as 3090s are selling out. Unless they want the 3080ti out so it takes the price place of the 3090 and then push 3090 up another tier and reduce 3080s even more (not like there is a lot of 3080s anyways). Who knows really, it's all insane now what's going on with pc components.

Yup exactly this. For the past two 3080 drops I was in the kitchen cooking, got the notification, ran up stairs to my computer within minute and it's already gone once I'm past the captcha :/

This isn't really true.

I thnk the retailer selling these have some of the best bot prevention out of all the guys selling cards.

You need something to alert you to when they are in stock, but there are plenty of twitter accounts that'll do that. Actually purchasing one needs to be manual and it's not too difficult so long as you're quick.

I just don't know where all of this is going any more. The GPU marker is so screwed. I don't even know how this can possibly be resolved.

I really do think this all comes down to NVIDIA for completely failing to take account of the many factors that led to such a massive problem in their own marketplace. They blame the miners, they blame the gamers, they blame lockdown, but they are a big company for heavens sake. They have entire departments that are paid to cover all the options and ensure their manufacturing is up to the job. It's not like this happened overnight, many of the factors have been building for years. All the things that happened were not completely unforeseen. Yet they have failed on a level that is scarcely believable. I can accept some problems, some shortages, but this is an unmitigated disaster. They have missed the mark by such a margin it's just crazy. The truth is that NVIDIA is not serving the gamers at all, like it so loves to pretend, it has utterly failed the gamers and not for the first time either. They don't deserve their crown. Really they need someone to come kick their collective butts.

It doesn’t help that nVidia have been pushing retail prices up over generations. They’ve really raised the ceiling on what people expect to pay for a GPU. The RRP on the FE’s looks fairly sensible (3090 aside) but we all know it’s not a good indicator for the majority of the cards that get released.

Stick an RX 480 in a basic mid tower case with 1-2 case fans, it's probably gonna be fine for 5-10+ years. Stick an RTX 3090 in the same case and you might not be ok. :)

Thankfully chassis designs have evolved to consider airflow and various cooling configs.I've once tried to repurpose an old prebuilt beige case into a sleeper HTPC.The case is like a tomb with zero cooling and only a few sessions of heavy load usage was enough to eventually suffocate and kill the graphics card inside.Oh well, lesson learned.

Don’t see what Nvidia would bother to release them right now. They can’t make enough to satisfy current demand let along add other cards to the mix.

Only possible reason I could think of for a 3080ti right is that their yields are really good and they have lots of 3090 quality chips that they don’t want to stick into plain 3080s. Even this doesn’t make sense since they can’t make enough 3090’s for them to even stay in stock.

It is fairly impossible then without a bot doing the searching for you, bots don't just have to do the buying they are setup to do the online searching to see what is in stock and send alerts
Bot definition, "a software program that can execute commands, reply to messages, or perform routine tasks, as online searches"
