So after getting my PS5 on launch I spent weeks researching what TV to get and ended up with a Samsung QLED 55”.

Now I am converting part of my garage into a ‘games room’ and have been researching again and it seems more unclear than last time.

I am looking to keep my QLED in the house but ideally want to go for something smaller (no less than 32”) so it can sit on my desk along with my PC monitors. Have looked at both monitors and TVs but seem to find mixed reviews about the panels either being dire or not having full features the PS5 needs, it seems going for a monitor unless you want to spend £1k+ your going to have to compromise on a feature here and there.

has anyone got any recommendations on a screen solely the PS5 which can take advantage of all the current features? Budget is up to £600 but ideally cheaper.

Cheers

If by all features of the PS5 you mean 4k 120fps which needs a TV that has hdmi 2.1, then you are very limited to the high-end quite above your budget so basically you're looking for the best 4k 60hz tv with hdmi 2.0 if £600 is all you can spend.

The Samsung UE43TU8000 is £399 at JL. It has gaming features that review OK but like most TV's at this budget HDR won't be the best as it peaks at around 300nits and doesn't have a particularly wide color gamut for HDR content. Samsung TU8000 Review (UN43TU8000FXZA, UN50TU8000FXZA, UN55TU8000FXZA, UN65TU8000FXZA, UN75TU8000FXZA, UN85TU8000FXZA) - RTINGS.com

Trouble is for £600 - you're in that awkward budget range that limits what you can get.

If you already have PC monitors (that I assume you game on one of them) what are they? Ideally, I'd advise playing the PS5 on them and saving a bit more to get a MUCH better TV that would enhance the experience or upgrading your primary monitor to get the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the reply. Atm for my PC I’m using an ASUS VG248, so not 4K. Ideally looking for a 4K screen to sit along side.

I presume 4K display would be more preferred rather than a lower resolution but higher Hz?

very noob question but if I get a display that is 60hz, is it still capable of hitting 120fps with no problems (I.e tearing etc)

True that.

I presume more pixels is the better option over higher Hz? Think this is the route I’ll be going for now. Really want a smaller size like a monitor and seems it’s one or the other..or triple the price.

For £600 you'll struggle to get anything that produces a proper HDR image and I think that is really the biggest graphical feature of next gen.

The panel will need to support 120hz and even then to run 4K/120hz you will need HDMI2.1 to use it fully, else you'll have to reduce chroma subsampling to 4:2:0 and turn off 10bit colour/HDR. In terms of stopping tearing you'd need a VRR compatible display but it is not supported by PS5 yet (Sony have announced it will be added later).

Rtings has a Ps5 buyers guide in Both it's TV and monitor review sections.

Says last updated 24th of march on my screen and there is a budget option on the page also.

Correct, but have a look at some of the models they are obsolete now in the UK and the buy links as well are all invalid/out of stock so pretty much majority of the reviews on that page don't mean much if you can't buy the actual monitor other than importing.
