Looking for a strong upgrade

Recently I've had problems with my pc. I the psu ruined my motherboard and my 980ti was burning.

I'm looking to buy a whole new system. I'm looking for a good upgrade from what I previously had

i7 6700k
Msi m5 motherboard

What would be a good jump up. I've seen and cpus are very strong but I heard they can be very hot.

Can anyone point me into the right direction. Is there a huge difference between 3.60 and 4.00 when it comes to CPU?

This would be a noticable difference from the i7 6700k and msi motherboard? Upset my current build has problems so I'm willing to go all out for a solid upgrade

More likely that 980 Ti just reached end of its life.
PSU can't make component draw more power than it wants.
Unless it's total garbage PSU without protections.

Card drawing too much power from mobo (/feeding 12V back to low voltage signal wires) could have also damaged board.

This can help you decide what Ryzen 5000 series you want, but 5800x will be good for gaming, the new consoles have 8 cores which the 58000x does as well so its not going to be short of cores compared to the gaming consoles.

What size of motherboard do you want? ITX for small case, ATX for standard cases? The itx is good to put in small spaces and move about, the ATX is good if you want to add other cards like capture cards

is it this one?
AMD RYZEN 7 5800X EIGHT CORE 4.7GHZ
Idk anything about cases. What will fit a big gpu just in case?
I would appreciate if you can combine the entire build for me. I'm struggling so hard doing this via phone

Also the psu. Shouldn't I go for a higher wattage if I was to buy a high end gpu eventually like 3080ti?
Reference RTX 3080 has near 500W power draw spikes and non-reference models exceed that.
Pretty certain upper card ain't any prettier in transients.
So would make good 750W PSU starting point, unless you try to lower GPU power draw by undervolting etc.

What about a AMD Ryzen 9 5900x? I'm happy to spend a little more to ensure I have a high end system
That's like twice the cores needed at the moment.
6c/12t is very good for year or two in almost every game.
Though with consoles giving 7 strong cores exclusively for the games, core usage of heavier games is certain go up in future.
Naturally 8 core would keep up with that, if you don't have much stuff running on background.
12 core would again handle the heaviest games and background stuff for long time.

12 core does seem more appealing to me. Gaming and a lot of background programs open such as a lot of internet tabs. You think it's worth the price difference from 8 cores?
I really wanna get this right

I owned a 6700K three months ago. Yes, its way faster....

The 5800 is slightly fast but a lot more expensive.

I've decided I want to go all out for future proof and go with the ryzen 5900x. However they seem to be out of stock. Should I be waiting? When do they usually get in stock.

What would be the best cooler for the 5800x and 5900x. Do I need liquid cooling? I had cooolermaster for my i7. Are liquid coolers needed for ryzen and are they difficult to fit?

If you're considering a new GPU you should go for a pre-built system. Naked GPUs at reasonable prices are like hen's teeth.

No, you don t need liquid. I have air cooled and its at 35 degrees mostly.

5900X is never in stock.
