I have no idea what to look for. I will be buying the ryzen 5800x but i have no idea which mobo to get. i hear GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE is best but is it really worth the price? whats the difference between that and the Gigabyte Aouros b550m?

is it true the 5800x might not work with these because of the bios? i have no idea what im doing or looking for, what motherboard should i get should i get?

The elite is a decent board and will work with the 5800x but might need to update bios which you should be fine doing

Im in the same boat and it seems to be between a good B550 or a average x570. I'm leaning towards a good 550 and thinking Gigabyte Vision D. Rather have something with good VRMs than over the top storage ill never use.

All depends what features you're after since there's no point spending more on features you won't use. I'm running a 5800X overclocked with a 3080 in a B450 tomahawk max, the VRM doesn't break 50c and the board does absolutely everything I need while being half the price of an X570.

I'm not really sure what I need besides standard usb keyboard mouse and microphone and audio adapter.

If you want Wifi then the pro AC is a good option and is on sale right now but if your not bothered about it then the elite V2 should be enough for your use while coming in slightly cheaper.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £311.04 (includes shipping: £11.10)

What are your thoughts on this?

I'm using the Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming wifi board with my 5800X, 6900 XT GPU and 4000 Mhz rated RAM and I'm very pleased with it. It looks great, my benchmarks are competitive and you get the new standard of wifi 6 with it. It includes the external bios flash facility if that appeals to you too. The only limitations I have found are, a) only one aRGB header (although you can use splitters to get around this) b) only one usb 3.1 port (so if your case has more than 2x 3.1 ports at the front/top of your case, the additional ports will be dead unless you buy a splitter), c) if you use both M.2. NVMe drive slots, then the number of sata ports for SSD/HDD drives reduces from 6 to 4. If none of those apply significantly to your needs, then I can recommend this board. It will work out of the box with your 5800X too without a bios flash.

Edit: The slightly upgraded version of this board, the B550-E is actually better value just now at only £10 more which won't have the limitations I just listed above, it also has built in wifi 6: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...g-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-6fd-as.html
