This is what a scalper looks like..

Despite being in a lockdown right now and probably in another couple before the year is out, where home entertainment is essential for mental health. It's the buyers fault.

I wish people would stop peddling this utter nonsense, home entertainment or more specifically a graphics card is not essential to mental health.

if card manufacturers came out and gave a statement as to how they dont allow warranty transfers for any of these cards and then maybe people would think twice?
nope, they'd just return the cards to the sellers within 6 months on ebay - which would be funny.

@ScottiB - might be worth a look?

You could get a used PS4 for a much more reasonable price and still play with your friends who have a PS5.

This isn't a problem, fair enough if they want to sell their old card because the market rate went up. Totally different to using bots to buy up all the new stock for the sole purpose of profiting from ripping people off.

who are all playing Ps5 games?

I lock you in your house...take away everything one by one until all you have is a roof over your head, a bed and basic food.

The process is carried out over a period of time. First your books go, then your pens and pencils, then your phone, then your TV, then your laptop, then your pc.

All you can do is eat, sleep and walk round the block. You are alone

Do you still believe that single items of distraction cannot be essential to mental health?

I don't see your point.

I've been unable to buy a cheap graphics card so I subscribed to a streaming service instead. I'm happy and my mental health isn't affected.

Scalpers haven't ripped me off in any way. A scalper didn't hold a gun to my head and force me to buy one.

I'm a man and I'm in charge of my own decisions. I chose not to buy a scalped graphics card.

However, some people are CHOOSING to be ripped off by scalpers. That's 100% their own fault. The scalpers are just using their business acumen to take advantage of gullible people who obviously have plenty of cash anyway. I don't see a problem with that. People vote with their wallets and scalpers are winning those votes because people choose to buy them.

The main Issue I guess is the allowing of bots.

Websites should really try to make something that disallows the use of bots or some bot protection. Or make their website invisible from that stock info website. That helps real buyers have enough time to get to the website and buy one before other people swarms it.

Cause right now specially e-tailer who sells at msrp or near it (there is 1 or 2 who is doing so but its next to impossible to buy cause its swarmed by bots), Their stock just disappear out of thin air after 5 seconds of being listed early. All cause of bots.

The people buying or re-selling them are probably addicted to doing that too.

I am not shocked if they have been harassed. Now all the other long necked people will be harassed too

Before this Buying and re-selling at scalper prices has only been targeting Limited edition items like Expensive branded shoes that has limited production.

But now that GPU's and CPU's and Consoles have a no on purpose "limited production". Birthed more scalpers copying the same ideology from re-selling expensive shoes. Like that Bloody Shoes.. with literal blood inside of it. (Good thing Powercolor Red Devil did not use real blood as thermal paste!) :D

Some of OC's competitors are selling the cards for more than scalper's price but OC is selling nearly at MSRP price. Which is a good thing for us. Hope we all get our cards soon

I don't consider them entrepreneurs, it's scamming/fraud.. If they were serious about setting up business then they would negotiate contracts with distributors and buy wholesale and sell legitimately, above board and fully taxed. They would have a better chance at building a business and good reputation.
It doesn't help that people are willing to pay these insane prices no, but that doesn't make what they're doing right. Just my two cents

You are correct. I once bought 3070 from a competitor for £900 + devlery but I couldn't justfy the cost, so i returend it

It must have taken some mental gymnastics to come up with this.
You feel the scalpers are ripping you off (because people are willing to pay more) but it's OK to rip someone else off (because people are willing to pay more)? Right.
What mental gymnastics did you come up with to conclude that selling an old GPU is in any way remotely similar to making a business out of using bots to buy up all the new stock? Are you suggesting that we should ban people from selling old GPU's because people are paying too much for them? If anything, selling an old GPU that you didn't really need is a good thing because it pushes more stock into the market and helps to prevent the scalpers from increasing prices even further. The scalpers using bots to buy up all the new stock are not entrepreneurs, they are providing nothing of value, they are simply the dregs of society taking advantage of legal loopholes to scam people.

Put my old gpu on facebook marketplace today

had someone offer to drive from Derby for it

3 wanted me to ship it at full price ( would prefer collection atm)

1 guy local said he would have it monday for his mining rig but at work till them

1 from norwich wanted it but lowballed but still tempting

its madness think all the above are miners

would rather it went to someone who just wanted to play games and I made less money

It makes me wonder, what were these people doing before crypto mining became a thing...

That is madness because I wouldn't buy a last gen GPU for mining. Less efficient for starters, also, when the crash happens the only GPUs that will hold their value are current gen. I'm thinking of selling up for Christmas.
