Hi guys and galls.

Just might be the time to upgrade cpu/mb ram setup to match the new 6700xt i got recently.

Ideas?

Budget wise i dunno im hoping to keep the upgrade under 400 whcih is for cpu mb and ram. Thinking about replacing my good old trusted psu too which is a corsair hx 620w which is over 10 years old but shows no sign of giving up the chase yet. Built to last i think this was. :D

Was thinking 3600 route but is the single core performance that much better than mine atm at 4.2ghz oc. I know the multicore performance would be a lot better by about 3x but some games like x4 are very cpu bound and use mostly 1 core heavily and so so on the others. Want to avoid what im having now, micro stutter when looking about tho ive heard that game no matter what, even the most expensive cpus have crap fps and not smooth on walking on stations the wharfs etc.

I think about the ram to still just do 16gb, dunno what speed tho 3200 3500 i dunno, whats better.

Motherboard, hmm well i need about 6 sata ports as got 6 drives, only using 5 atm but could do with another to use a new drive i bought that i havent put in yet. Dont plan on overclocking so not fussed with oc stuff, i used to be hence the 3570k at 4.2ghz but im getting old just turned 39 and want a peaceful life so just plug and play lol.

No upgrade advice?

Still toying between the 3600 ryzen or 5600 i just dunno. Also i dunno if i should just go intel again with maybe 10600 perhaps?

Ive no idea what mb to get for amd or intel theres far too many varients i dunno. Id like the option of SAM for the ram access to gpu tho if thats a option. Again i need 6 sata ports for my ssd/hdds.

Also probs be wanting a cooler for 30ish to keep temps under 60 at load.

@Space Monkey Hi monkey, maybe this topic might be better in a diff category, if poss can u move it to the better place u think is best?

During the 3000 series I was a big proponent of Ryzen at every turn, but you can find the 10700f at £235, which is a very compelling price. I've not got the time to do all the price and performance comparisons, but I reckon it's a value that's worth keeping on your radar.

Anything mentioned so far is a great deal faster than the old 3570k even single threaded, the Intels do have the advantage over the 3600 in that respect though but not the 5600. Incidentally I have this 10500 for sale now I also have a motherboard for it I just hadn’t advertised that yet but it’s an MSI Z490 Tomahawk. I do also have a 3600 on a B450 the reason I’m selling though is because my main system is a 10700 and I wanted to keep one Intel and one AMD but the 10500 is faster in games than the 3600 for sure although not so you would notice unless you were measuring it in my experience.

I think an Intel 10th gen is the deal right now and a Ryzen 5000 series the optimal solution. The 10700s are a really good deal right now, I’d either go with a 10400/500 or jump to a 10700 I wouldn’t bother with the 10600K right now tbh.

Intel new 11th gen cpus offer good value at lower price point a 11400 or 11600 b570 motherboard and memory would be a decent upgrade.

There is also the f varients if not interested in igpu .

How much do you want to spend? 5600x is where its at, don't need anything more than that imo

200 ish on cpu that will be a good balance with a 6700xt gfx card for 1440p gaming.
100 on mb ish
80 ish for 16gb ram
35ish for hsf

Not in a rush so if told to wait a bit i can.

I'd check out the new 11400F as its far better than a 3600 and even within a few % of a 5600X for half the price, pair it up with a B560 motherboard.

Yeah sounds reasonable.

Check out the new 11400f intel they're supposed to be quite good. Haven't seen the benchmarks yet though

And well the 11900k is slower than last years and less cores. Can't quite figure that out so deffo check benchmarks to make sure you're getting bang for your buck
