Warning to everyone about scam websites selling 3 Series cards

I use a credit card purely for the protection and pay the balance off at the end of the month. You can easily use a credit card and never pay anything for it, either in monthly fees or interest payments. Obviously ensure whichever credit card you go with, does not have monthly fees etc. The APR % you can ignore, as you will be paying the balance off each month. If you think you are going to be tempted to spend more than you can pay off, then I would avoid it. Sounds like that isn’t an issue for you though.

You can setup an auto payment to pay the credit card balance off each month, or opt to auto pay off the minimum payment. So if you forget to pay the credit card off, at least with the minimum payment you only incur the interest and not any late or missed payment penalties.

I just gone online to my bank, and they give me 9% card 8000£ spending limit, set up to clear balance by direct debit end of a month. that was easy.
I guess it will be canceled i realy have no need for it.

But if it gives protection when i need it then its a good deal.

If it's not being sold by a company that has existed for several years and has a proven record of shipping then don't bother.

Try to confirm its existence with word of mouth or trusted third parties.

There are multiple sites which are currently posting listings of high value items specifically for the purpose of tricking those who have nowhere to go. If you do find somewhere is marginal trust wise, make sure to use a credit card or a system with strong built in buyer protection.

Please be careful, there a a few companies we have spotted that look legit on inspection but are actually scams, they are lisiting 3-Series FE cards and are newly registered companies. They know which items appear as GEMs and items people are desperate for, such as PS5s. Often will advertise through insta and social media and they have there own sites so it looks legit. If you are desperate and buy from them, your item will never turn up. My friend order and they have his £665 for an RTX 3080.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to list names but as Cooler running said "If it's not being sold by a company that has existed for several years and has a proven record of shipping then don't bother. "
These scammers are professionals and once they have your money if paid by debit card , it's gone for good.

I almost bought a treadmill earlier this year from one such scam website which looked genuine.

It wasn’t until I went back to the page a couple of days later to place an order to find the website was taken down and some research into that led me to find out the whole thing was a scam.

I normally use my credit card for the protection it offers. When I buy something with it, I pay it off immediately, no issues so far thank goodness. Otherwise I pay through Paypal.

I have name and address if one such website that's already Down.
The domain was registered on that name and address .
I wonder if that's a valid info and if any One cares.

interesting. can u set it up so it automaticaly goes back to zero balance at the end of a month to avoid any fees.

I never gone into minus on my bank balance. so never had a need for a credit card. but the protection they give does sound appealing.

Do you not know how a credit card works?

I never use my debit card for anything, except taking out cash (never do this with a credit = very bad)

You get loads more protection!

you can also get very good cash back deals as well.

you just set your direct debit to pay the balance off in full every month without fail.

never never borrow on one.

it’s also very good for your credit score as well.

I only got a credit card for online purchases, it comes with so much more benefits and security when shopping online.
What gets me though is why you get so much more protection with credit cards than debit cards, you have to have the money in the bank for the debit card to purchase the item but on a credit card it's basically borrowing the money until you pay it off after a month. The credit card companies will obviously get more interest if they have more cover but it's strange why debit cards have little to no protection.

If you pay by debit card and your item never turns up, then you have risked your own money. If you pay by credit card and the item does not turn up, then you have risked the credit card companies money. Until you pay off your credit card, you do not own the items you bought. So that makes the credit card company more liable, or something along those lines. I'm no legal expert. I'm sure someone else could explain it better than me.

Not sure why you'd order something (fairly) expensive from a website you've never heard of before, without doing any kind of checks. "Is xxxx legit" takes all of 10s to type into Google.

Even legit (ish) companies can rip you off I lost 400 to MajorMobiles, I returned a faulty phone they kept it and refuse to answer emails now.. As the return was all confirmed via email I never kept receipt for postage so was unable to claim via paypal.

I only use credit card or paypal for all purchases and just have the direct debit set up to pay in full each month. Anyone still using debit cards or bank transfers in this day and age... I mean this is supposed to be a tech savvy forum.

Ya maybe some people see a gpu and think 'if I don't order this in the next 5 seconds it will be gone.'

But this is a hood thread for those needing a gpu

I don't trust myself with credit cards, I've had debit since I was 14 I think. Prefer it as I know what I have and know what I can spend. I prefer to pay it there and then.
