What RAM and case?

Here's my pick list, I'll be carrying my RM750i PSU, GTX1600 Super, fans and a backup hard drive across which helps save a bit. For £863 hopefully I'll notice the gains over my current i7 build but I'll need to wait for the motherboard to come in stock, although there's no ETA. :(

Finally went for this tonight and confirmed that the motherboard should come with the BIOS ready for the 5600X processor now which saves me a minor headache.

I changed the paste for silver stuff now that it's back in stock, but everything else is the same as listed. The i7-11700K caught my eye, but it would mean starting all over again with my research so I decided to stick with the 5600X. My son will be over the moon now that he's getting my i7-3770k lol

Thanks for all the advice and help, much appreciated. I'm sure I'll be back when my build goes to tatters as I'm an AMD virgin.

Enjoy.

Just in case you do have to flash the bios here is a tutorial.

Stuff all arrived promptly from OC, although DPD had seemingly been playing football with my boxes - but visually everything inside seems fine and hopefully nothing is damaged.

Decided to now get a new PSU and hopefully this is a good one: Corsair RM750x [CP-9020199-UK]. This is for my new build so that I can keep my current PC up and running, just in case. The only thing I'm now taking from my current build is the GPU. Been a fair number of years since I last built a PC, but the case this time is far bigger than my current one so hopefully cable management will be much easier.

Corsair rmx a quality unit, mite be worth doing a build outside the case to test everything works and easier to use the bios flashback feature if needed.

Enjoy.

Thanks. OC said the MB will be BIOS ready for the 5600X. Although, the box has an image which says 3000 ready; I would have expected it to say 5000 ready?

I suspect not it would say 5000 ready , at least you have all the info on how to flash it if needed.

That's a bit frustrating, I wonder why I was told it probably would be ready out of the box? I would have thought by now the motherboards would have been updated, unless I'm getting older stock?

Well, looks like I'll have to flash.

Went to flash MB and I was expecting to see some sort of power light come on the MB to indicate power, but nothing. DOA PSU or MB? :(

Anyway, after suitable soiling and bashing of various Gods, I did some PSU testing (pin 4 & 5 trick) and the PSU was grand. After a bit more research I realised that I had to actually press the flash bios button to get things powered up. FFS duh.

Lol , it was in that video i posted.

Well, everything is built and connected but sod all is happening. Power comes on, fans spin, mb lights up but nothing coming through to monitor by dp or hdmi. Tried two monitors and nothing. Gpu fans are spinning etc.

I've also noticed that the mouse isn't lighting up so looks like no power getting to mouse.

Could this be a BIOS issue?

Did another BIOS flash (this time with it built) and when I've restarted the fans are no longer going at full speed. The mouse lights up now when I plug it in and the bios screen is up!

Man I had the rage there. Nothing worse than no screen coming up.

At least you sorted it.

Aye cheers and thanks for the quick reply a well, appreciated.

That case is brilliant, especially compared to my old one. Glad I didn't go full tower as some cables only just reach. A very easy build to be fair, apart from the bios thing lol
