Won't be any lawsuits, people may be annoyed if they purchased to mine with but nowhere on any product pages (retail or manufacturer) does it state about mining performance as these are graphics cards being used for other purposes

if they purchased it to mine they should have bought a mining specific card is what i imagine the lawyer would say to them

Technically different products being branded as the same items will confuse consumers. I see lawsuits coming.
GPU firmware is continuously revised so "technically different" from the initial release - clockspeed & overclocking profile, TDP and fan curve changes for example. The boards are sometimes modified (V2 etc).

I can't see any lawsuits, just refunds to punters who wanted a mining card.

You forgot about radeon 7 :D

Radeon 7 was a fantastic miner, but it wasn't around for long. Also was rather pricey (especially factoring in resale value) for it's time, at least compared to the MSRP of the 3080 and Vega 56.

I'll certainly give you that if it was still widely available it would be selling like hotcakes at the moment.

They go for crazy money right now, I sold a broken one for nearly £700. Im still mining on one because its a mining monster :D

I believe this issue hasn't been addressed by OcUK staff yet. Technically different products being branded as the same items will confuse consumers. I see lawsuits coming.

It would be nice if OcUK could release all their 30 series stock before they mix in the limited mining variants that are coming. Any comment from @Gibbo or @ScottiB ?

We don’t sell mining cards and we don’t promote or support mining on gaming GPU’s so we won’t be doing anything.

Entrepreneurs get a bad rap. The poor get offended by someone trying to make an honest living on their own. The rich don't want to let the initiative takers climb the ladder to be on their perceived level. I don't want to show off. I want to invest my money wisely and not have the fear of hand-to-mouth looming in future. Perceived nobility will fade away one day sunshine.

You need to get it into your head that people who buy up multiple GPU’s for mining are not liked on here.

You’re not an entrepreneur either.

This is bad news. Many gamers are mining when not gaming to recoup costs so this will be blow to anyone thinking of doing that. I certainly wouldn't buy a card that is gimped in such a way. The older cards will be highly valued now.

I didn't say what my main job is so you're not qualified to say.
Just because gamers are jealous and angry, that's their issue.
At the risk of psycho-babble, one cannot make anyone else feel something. Negative feelings come from the other person's insecurities. Blaming others for our feelings is negating our responsibility for said feelings.

Have you tried shopping for a card?

There is none is stock anywhere of anything. The last card I see in stock was £2700

Right now cards are not even getting to retail because board partners are selling them straight to miners.

This change can only be a good thing.

What are you on about?
