Nope it’s gone again seems any external drive is causing it to lock up. Tried a couple now sata and nvme to usb and a few caddies all work fine on Xbox. On PS5 it either tries to format and crashes or crashes when trying to use the drive....
With no drives connected it works perfect. It was working perfect until the latest update.
No idea what other than firmware as it is the only thing that’s changed.

Yep ! Can’t wait to get stuck in.
You get permanent upgrades as you progress, that stay with you even when you die to help you progress further etc.
Hopefully that will make it bearable it does look very good.
I think I’m going to try a factory reset next see what that does. Something has definitely gone adrift in the update.
I’d say yes. My lad uses his with a 1080p plasma and it’s very good. In fact it’s light years better than his PS4 - faster, smoother, quieter for a start
Its worth it for the 60fps boost to a lot of games. God of War and days gone run so much better on PS5.
My issue has got really weird. Simply if I have any type of USB storage plugged into any of the ports on the rear it is really really slow like usb 1 speed if that. Downloading Skyforce 500mb to USB took nearly 2 mins but if I download it direct to the PS5 it takes less than 5 seconds. Copying to or from USB is also painfully slow no matter what drive is connected.
It seems the latest updated has killed the USB system on my PS5 ? I have downloaded the software and done a complete reset too.

Edit - It now just seems to be the rear lower USB port. Connecting to the one above its running full speed.
Done some timing tests and it seems the rear USB port closest to net connector can only run at around usb 2.0 speeds. The other one runs full speed no issue.
I give up it’s working now so will just leave it and see how it goes.....

A quick read on google and there seems to be a fair amount of issues with PS5 and external drives connected to rear USB ports. A few mention speed differences too.
It’s working now as it should so will leave it alone and look into a swap when they are more readily available if it’s a fault it could be a software bug from what I have been reading...
