Hi everyone, I bought an xbox last year during lockdown to play warzone with some friends. Fast forward 6 months and I've got rid of the console and bought my first gaming PC. The specs are currently:
Intel Core i5-10400, 2.90GHz, 6 Cores Processor
Storage 512GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB
Memory RAM 8GB
165hz 27" Acer Nitro Monitor

I've had it for a few months now and I would like to know where I would begin upgrading it? I would like to increase my fps and be able to have my graphics settings a little bit higher without sacrificing fps. Any help not advice would be greatly appreciate it!

To increase fps a new gpu would be the best upgrade but with the current market will be difficult to get. Prices are also high.

Memory i would move to 16gb this is the optimal amount for gaming, you have 8gb is that 2x4gb or 1x8gb ?

What motherboard and psu do you have ?

Adding another 1x 8gb to run in dual channel mode can increase framerates.

Make sure to add another one of the same stick or a new kit of RAM. Although most kit's are compatible when mismatched it rarely helps when the performance of the computer.

The best way to identify how to add a similar stick, it's best to read the label off the side of the stick. Given it looks like you have a prebuilt, I'd probably just replace it with a 16 GB kit, such as this one:

So I had a look and the way the pc is built I wouldn't feel comfortable getting into it to change the existing ram stick as it's a compact pc and I think I'd have to take it apart to get it out whereas the slot to add a second stick is easy to access. The stick that's in it at the moment is a samsung: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QJ52MK9K2HM9EYDG7

If I just buy exactly the same type of ram card would that work?

Adding more RAM works fine if it's the same SKU. It will likely still work if it's a different kind, but may be a little unstable.

So I bought exactly the same samsung 8gb ram stick as the one that's already in the pc, it arrived this morning and I've put it in but now I'm getting no signal on my monitor? I guess this should be a new thread it does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks for everyones help! It turns out you have to push those wee rams sticks in much harder than youd ever think was safe! I didn't have it clicked in fully but a good double thumb push sorted it out!

Yeah, it always scares me installing memory as you need to push hard enough to basically bend the motherboard before the things click in!

Odd really as most other connectors are zero force these days and the pins pretty fragile.
