If Nvidia are looking to build up inventory that can only be a good thing. Whether they can build up enough to meet demand for longer than ten seconds after release is another matter - perhaps it’ll just give bots more chance to grab the available stock.

Well this is what, the fourth or so supposed "delay" to it's launch, there was talk of it coming in December last year and then January this year as well. All BS speculation.
What is curious if the kind of numbers nVidia have been talking about for Ampere cores they've shipped to AIBs is true there are a lot of GPUs never making it to retail. Obliviously could be other component shortages, etc. holding supply back.
Given the way AIBs have seemingly been manipulating model availability this time around I'm fast getting a poor impression of them.

Given the images of some mining farms with dozens of the same ampere card mining away it's hardly surprising a lot of them aren't making it to market. Nvidia and their partners doing deals behind closed doors with miners as it should be impossible to get 70+ of the exact same card unless you're dealing direct with the partner or nvidia.
Given some of the information that has come out recently (some covered in that GN video above) it looks like the AIBs are involved in that rather than nVidia directly.
It wouldn't surprise me if in the longer run it doesn't encourage nVidia to look at cutting out the AIBs (hurts their image with consumers and more lucrative for them to sell bulk products commercially directly).
EDIT: TBH in this day and age I'm starting to question the value of AIBs to consumers anyhow - so many of them these days don't innovate - slap sub-standard parts or poorly thought out cooling, etc. on the cards, etc. while charging a load more - mostly gone are the days where spending a bit more money for an AIB card got you a decent bit of kit over the "reference" card.
Yup, a lot of them recycle the same cooler for hotter running cards like asus, they had essentially the same strix cooler for a few years on 1070\80\ti series and on vega 56\64 and it was inadequate for the vega gpu's. Or you have to look at gigabyte having to revise power cables etc as they seemed to put minimal testing into what they originally had in place.

Current 3080/70 owners say you don't need it..
Yeah, i never understood this argument.
I don't need an 8 core CPU, i'm sure my games will still work with a quad core, but i'm not paying £400 for a Core i3 10300, in the same way i think paying £500+ for a GPU with the same amount of memory my GTX 1070 had is idiotic.
"That'll do for now" and i'm supposed to nod in agreement?
Wasnt the same arguement used about GTX 970 and the fast ram <> slow ram bit....
Think it was more the fact that nvidia hid the slow ram and never mentioned it, then said it was an oversight.

If true they are more expensive than a 3090 on release and we have yet to hear if even a FE model will come out and I still feel Nvidia is going to pass the buck to the AIBS with the 3080ti and 3070ti, so there will not be any FE MSRP people can compare to.
Also if true there is another delay that only means again not enough cards and the prices will be silly again. The 3080 is basically now selling for 3090 prices so what will the 3080ti really cost ? Also if they plan on nerfing mining all that will happen is the prices of previous cards will go up even more and the nerfed cards will sit slightly lower than the none nerfed models. It is just nuts now what has happened to the gpu market and needs some form of regulation now, before we see £3k+ the norm for 3090s and up to £2k+ for 3080s, so where does the 3080ti sit £2.5k soon ?
Also the FE MSRP has done nothing to keep prices in the realm of reality as there is hardly any FE cards and the 3080 is the worst for it and even now selling for 3x the msrp on many sites and even the PC exchange shop in the city minute they get a 3080 in stock it sells right away for £1700 FE to £1900 for the EVGA hybrid that was in stock other day for about 2 hours
. World has gone totally nuts paying 3090 expensive AIB price for a 3080 FE now.Not this 70 owner, unless you plan sticking to 1080p, essentially it's just more than 2080ti raster with 1070's vram.
