Has anyone changed their mind about the Epic store, after all the free games?

I have epic and Origin on 1tb ssd
and steam on another 1tb ssd
Got loads of the free games I'll never play
But there have been some good little fun games I've picked up
For me it's along steam as I share the big download games between the two platforms

Been using it to claim loads of games and have recently started playing through some of them. I dont mind it personally as I just want to play the game and not too fussed about the achievements etc. What I do find annoying is the integration to other clients. For eg I bought AC odyssey through Epic but had to link to uplay to claim it at which point I just started playing it on uplay.

playe some of the smaller games and they have been fun

and agree just want to play games acievements social groups ect couldnt give a toss about on steam

Free games are a great way of letting me know if it's worth buying on Steam (for the cheevos and community). I don't get why so little has changed on the epic launcher except minor improvements and I can never forgive them for abandoning the UT alpha.

Steam is about the only store I trust with my money. I have a few games with Origin but that's only because the games aren`t available on Steam.

My problem is that you don't physically own the game. If Epic closed down in 5 or 10 years, we`ve lost the games we paid for. The game product codes aren`t transferable to another store.

Seriously? I only claim the free games if I really want them. I check out the reviews, then I watch gameplay footage on youtube etc. Then I decide if I want to claim it.

Yes why not? Who knows if a year or two down the line you find yourself wanting to play a game you missed out for free.

Your process of carefully selecting games to me is a waste of valuable time.

Yeah but I treasure my game collections. I enjoy scrolling through and seeing all the games I like. Just like when I scroll through my music collection, I wouldn't want to see album covers of artists I don't even like.

I'm with @.Lethal. Can't be bothered with faffing around. If Epic offer the game for free, I'll add it to my collection. If I ever play it, that's just a bonus :)

Music's different. I buy the music I like, so rarely see stuff from artists I don't like, with the exception of compilation albums.

There is a hide game function so you can choose what you see. :p

Not on Epic Games unfortunately.

Hmm, I could have sworn there was. Maybe I’m thinking of Xbox or something.

EDIT: Now I'm back on my PC, I can see I was totally wrong. The mind boggles. Such a simple feature to implement I'm sure and here we are two and a half years in. There must be literally one or two developers on this store.

So far, these free games have cost Epic $17.5 billion. Judging by this thread, way less than $1 billion worth actually gets played. I wonder if we would see more free AAA games if people claimed fewer games?

Or maybe if they didn't have such **** business practices people would warm to them more? Of course throwing free stuff at people will get some people on side but doesn't seem to be working out how they hoped. Only so many billions to loose before the owners will decide it's time to pull the plug.
