Resident Evil 8 performance

Haha the enhanced version performance compared with the older game perf: The only notable improvement is on AMD :D

Those benchmarks are with DLSS off - supposedly the 3070 gets 100fps indoors and 80fps outdoors on DLSS quality mode at 1440p. Game's out in 23 minutes so I'll check it out and confirm :)

Of course DLSS will improve fps for Nvidia cards but for benchmarking purposes and apples to apples comparisons the settings need to be exactly the same. What's interesting here is that only real improvement in performance is for AMD. It just shows that most existing RT games are designed for Nvidia cards and proper optimisation for RDNA2 can dramatically improve performance for the AMD gpu's.

I mean, sure, but according to that graph above we're seeing an improvement of 2.2fps for the 6800XT and it's *still* running at sub-60fps (on Ultra settings).

I will say that this chart doesn't seem to tally with the other one posted (are these 4k results?) but the game's out now (downloading!!!) people can run their own tests :)

These benchmarks show ( if they will be confirmed that AMD is much closer to Nvidia in RT performance and the huge gap we've seen in games like Control or CP 2077 is caused by the lack of optimization for AMD GPU. Some of us have said this from the beginning while others have kept saying that AMD can only do RT shadows. :)

According to that graph there's a what? 16-18% performance difference between the 6800XT and the 3080 (and again, the 6800XT can't hit 60fps) - I'd say the gap is plenty..?

And it seems to match what Guru3D found for Hybrid-RT when they tested the 6800XT (although the 3D Mark full-path test gets much worse results for AMD).

And remember, this is a card that beats the 3080 in rasterization in a whole bunch of tests.

One thing is to have a 20-25% performance gap and another thing is to have a 50-100% performance gap. As i said it can be good news for the next gen of AMD cards.
So far we had proofs that the gap is not so big from games running only RT shadows. Now we see games running much more than shadows and still AMD cards are doing ok if we compare the results with those from other games like Control or CP2077. Which proves that the big gap we were seeing in Control, CP 2077 or 3D mark test, can be a problem of optimizing the software for the AMD cards.
No one said Big Navi can run RT games faster than Ampere, some of us questioned the results from Nvidia sponsored titles.

and what settings are the consoles running at, have you actually tried it on max settings on pc? whilst there are a few better looking games it doesn't half look bad completely maxed

Post the link, and this is a village thread not metro. also those aren't even the max settings, there is an Extreme preset that should be used to benchmark
