They were from Hammond's - installed last August / September
Ive seem people modify ikea pax wardrobes into fitting perfectly in alcoves etc. Obviously not exactly what you're after but a cheap idea anyway.
Oh yeah I'd likely be the same. I do have pax wardrobes and have had them for 6 years now. Absolutely spot on still. Although they were just usual free standing. We did look at this and if it was a spare room I would have given it a go, but not in our main bedroom
Yes thanks, it doesn't need access so they can cover it up
Yes that's what I was thinking. Having looked around at forums I thought I'd be coming in around the £2500 to £3000 mark. Maybe because the roof is sloping it costs more? Or they are making up the lost revenue due to COVID?
Tbh the person from Sharpes didn't seem interested at all, had a look at my design and said they would have drawn thst too so no point getting their pad out. They were here for around 25mins max. When it came to price they wouldn't budge, it's like take it or leave it.
Hammond's were amazing! Spent over 2 hours with me measuring the room and going through ideas. Really impressed with the knowledge and ideas they had. What they've suggested is better than my original idea
All came in at £3.5k and with the 10 year guarantee I'm happy to pay that. Got a couple more visits and will then make a decision.
Which ranges were used for the £3.5k Hammonds and £4.4k Sharps quote?
Depending on the range, its possible to reduce the price by going for an older similar range, Eg Harpsden < Croft < Marden.
I'd be quite shocked at that price difference between the two if it was for the driftwood vs driftwood range, as that one would also be the most expensive Hammonds range due to being the newest.
I absolutely don't understand where these £3k+ costs come from.
its a wardrobe, how the hell is it so expensive ?
Its just some wood and a day for the joiner/carpenter to come and fit it right ?
