I really like the colour of the microwave. Bought to match the kitchen and no manufacturer makes a similar colour.

Was wondering (I think the answer is no) if you can repair a microwave that has stopped heating.

Ie everything else works but it doesn't heat.

If you don't have good electrical knowledge then no, Microwave ovens have some very dangerous components, mostly the big capacitor and the transformer which can output lethal amounts of current.

Without overthinking it, your statement about how everything else works is quite funny, given the Microwaves main purpose in life :p

As long as you're not an imbecile, and don't mess with it while plugged in (or recently unplugged), you're not going to do any harm taking it apart and seeing if there's anything obviously broken that is repairable.

I'd look up the price of a new magnatron to see if that (commonly failing) part is available,
and, as no idea said, make sure you knows how to discharge aforementioned capacitor.

If you can't fix it you could always rattle can paint the new one.

Spray primer, two coats of colour, two coats of laquer.

Not hard to do.

I personally would try find a repair guy to take the risk if you must save it. Or if you can find the same model just wrong colour swapping the housing does not appear to hard.

I was actually thinking along these lines.

Microwaves usually (I've never seen one that didn't) have an internal fuse, so could be a very cheap fix.
Basically it boils down to high side (mag, transformer, diode and capacitor) low side (microswitches for door closure, pcb/switch)

If you can get it to me I'll have a butchers.

I don't know what it is about the internet but it seems that people think others as=re either psychic or they are so secretive that they feel revealing the manufacturer or model number or any relevant information is going to somehow compromise their lives so effectively they will not be able to function!

I just repaired the toaster I bought around 15 years ago. It cost £10 for the element and £4 for postage. I hope it will see me out as it's well built and spares are available. If your microwave is one where spares are available then it might be possible to repair it, but as the make and model are a matter of national security it's impossible to give any advise at all!

Apologies for the sarcasm it's late on a Friday evening !
