Resident Evil 8 performance

Played through the first hour and a half and the game looks stunning to me. Playing with everything maxed at UW 4K with an average of around 80 FPS (occasional lows in the late 60s) with my standard overclock profile loaded. Using almost 13 GB of VRAM.
Runs and looks lovely here, played for around 30 minutes and don’t think I’ve dropped below 90 FPS at max settings with an undervolt to limit GOU power draw to 225-245W Watt.

Found the game runs super smoothly with the FPS locked at 117 at 4K max settings and so far for the most part that is maintained. Perhaps it will drop further as I progress through the game.

Hi I'm a bit of a noob.... have a 3090 and every 5-10 minutes I'm getting crashes back to the desktop.... once it actually blackscreened and I had to restart.

Windows event log shows two errors:

No idea what to do with them. I'm a bit worried it's my graphics card... what would be the best way to stress test it??

Any tips for troubleshooting?

Is your GPU at stock? This draws serious GPU wattage with everything cranked to maximum. Will put strain on any overclocks you have.

Thanks for the response mate. I was running a fairly unsophisticated undervolt via msi afterburner to take the edge off... I can’t remember the exact settings. Is there anything you would specifically recommend? Cheers.

I think I'm drawing the full 325W of power, I'll look at that when I fire it up again. Mind I'm playing at 5120 x 2160p so not sure what the cost of the extra pixels are in terms frames per second. Did you have film grain / noise on too? I did notice earlier today when experimenting with the new version of Metro Exodus that I seemed to be getting significantly more frames running my clock at 2.5 GHz compared to 2.7 GHZ on occasion although it was hard to tell for sure. Junction temp was close to hitting 95 at 2.7 so perhaps throttling going on? I could always up the fans that are still at 60% if needed. Still causes the old eyebrow to elevate when performance goes in the opposite direction of the clocks.

All that optimization, the beautiful graphics, undone by forcing you to play through hubble space telescope FOV. Baffling decision.

FYI the AMD Fidelity CAS option is essentially Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) baked into the game engine. So no need to enable it via an application profile to make use of RIS in game.

So many crazy mods popping up, there is now even a mod that makes the vampire ladies naked and one that replaced lady dimitrescu with Thomas the tank engine

Right OK maybe it's just by design. I read the higher the resolution the less noticeable the changes are.

Am playing with the settings off and getting over 100fps at 1440p with all settings maxed.

@LtMatt doesn't seem to have the issue in his video.

The flickering I see is most noticeable on the red carpet that is scattered through parts of the game, but also occurs on Ali ashes edges (aliasing is more visible)

What a great looking and performing game. It gets even better later past where I end the recording.

I did have one frame rate drop to around 60fps when the wolf grabbed me mid way through the video it seems like Relive was the issue because I could not get it to happen again "I tried to break the game :D"
Graphics aside the killer for me is the audio in this game its something else a masterpiece its what draws you in and build tension.

1440p still processing from last night dam Youtube is so slow at processing videos so 1080p 60fps will after do
