Nvidia: We heard you wanted Marbles at Night

I'll just go out and buy a GPU with RT on i- oh, wait, there aren't any :p

If you don't have an RT GPU you can't have one until, what, 2023 now? Unless you literally re-mortgage your house and sell your firstborn, your wife's kidneys, and your soul.

It is kind of neat the way multiple people can work on a scene and/or place assets then edit them separately with the whole scene working seamlessly.

"RTX 5000" LOL

By the way, Marbles by default only runs if your GPU has 11gb or more VRAM.
To make it run on lower VRAM GPU's you need to modify the config file

Looks for this file: %AppData%\Local\ov\pkg\marbles_rtx-2021.1.5\_build\windows-x86_64\release\apps\omni.app.marbles.kit

And change: renderer.minGpuMemoryMB = 11000
From 11000 to the amount of VRAM your card has.

It may run worse if you have less than 11gb VRAM, not totally sure.

Looks very nice with the res at 4K, 3090 is running at about 35fps at the start but end up around 25fps further in. Afterburner is reporting 13GB of dedicated VRAM being used and it's using 11GB system RAM.

Wish Nvidia would just release the standalone demos like hey used to, Nvidia and AMD used to have some nice showcase demos for new cards but they never seem to want to do them anymore, or if they show interactive demos on stage they never release the bloody things afterwards for anyone to run.

Async is off by default, tried turning on and gained a few FPS but it causes a stuttering mess.

Finally! My decision to go with 32GB of RAM pays Off :p

But yeah 4fps @ 1440p internal res

I suspect the main culprit for the low FPS is the lack of VRAM, hence the huge RAM usage, which must be a swap file, to get the damn thing running.

yeah mine wasn't launching on my 3080 with no error message so I'm going to try this, thanks in advance if it works.

*edit*

Yep it was that, much appreciated.

1920x1080 I was getting 9-15fps on my 3080 with vRAM limit set to 10Gb, and MSI afterburner showing 10,000MB allocated and about 9,100Mb-9,200Mb used.

Big dose of misleading advertising in that image.

"Obeys the laws of physics", I don't think so, it can only mimic them. Lastime I checked electrical images don't react to normal mavity, inertia etc.

@4mins 20 seconds
They imply that open sub div allows for an infinite level of detail on a geometric edge.

I'm pretty certain that is not what open sub div does. Seems like there has been a communication error somewhere.

Came to post this. It's clearly the best looking game engine tech demo ever created, the visuals are nearly perfect in every aspect and it manages to rival a modern Pixar movie but in real time
Why didn't you just stop at this looks really good? Why did you even try and compare this to modern pixar along with your over exaggerated praise?

Just buy a laptop or pre built system.

Plenty available for reasonable prices.
