Central heating loud noise/rattling after "stopping" when heating? Any fixes

Hi all I'm in a new house and most areas are in need of some refresh including the central heating.

The boiler is a fairly no name/cheap brand but only 8 year old condensing boiler connected to an unvented cylinder.

My quesion: when my boiler heats the radiators as soon as it turns off there is an extremely loud noise /rattling. It's fine during the time it is continuing to heat and pimping to the radiators.
As I understand it this is due to a pressure surge and potentially poorly fixed /clamped pipework.

Are there any potential easy fixes for this? I haven't even tried bleeding radiators yet.

Regardless of this, ill be having a plumber come to fix the below but there's a fair delay on them coming out

Other plumbing items to do if interested..
  • shower mixer bar replacement
  • 2 seperate toilet fixes,
  • moving radiators,
  • replacement of microbore pipework
  • hive or tado thermostat

We have some (hit and miss) banging on ours and I know it's long runs of copper pipework where it has come away from or not sufficiently clipped on to the floor joists.

On a never ending to do list. We have a plumber here in the next few weeks for the kitchen extension and may get him to take a look

As I've removed the carpet upstairs I could take a look under the floor also. (massive sheets of ply with loads of screws so slightly difficult to get at!)

I realise that the this happens both when filling radiators and when heating the unvented cylinder. I had a quick Google and it will be a "indirect" cylinder I believe.

Anyone know if it could be an issue with the boiler/pump on the boiler?

Firstly bleed and top up the system.
Any air in there isn't doing anyone any good, but it's unlikely to cause the noise

When you do get the plumber out, see if he can fit any shock arrestors / water hammers. These are small, cheap, and do wonders wherever you have a valve closing quickly that causes a shock to run back through pipes (the noise you can hear).

When you turn off the heating does the pump continue to run? It should, if its not then the water inside the boiler, which is still hot will boil and the banging you can hear is boiling water with no where to go.
