Why not connect direct to TV and use ARC to pass the sound to the amp... That's what I've done with the PS5, as I wasn't sure my amp would do 4k and/or the 120mhz refresh of my TV.

I tried that, it doesn’t work half the time, there’s a glitch going on in the amp with detection of inputs. If I go from Amazon fire stick and then turn on the PS4, it changes automatically to the PS4 and then it goes back to the Amazon fire stick. I put it back and it goes back. Sometimes ARC doesn’t work. It’s time to change it because of this too.

Which is when the optical drive is in use (usually the cheap disks out of balance causing the noise rather than the drive itself) or a single, very slow spin every 1-2hrs of playing, which you simply do not hear (after the last software update).
Oh didn't realise they did something about that. I remember it running wild while I was playing persona 5 royal.

That sounds like a pain in the *** - I take it your Firestick isn't waking itself back up, and the amp switches because of that - can't recall the term "HDMI control" or something I recall seeing on most devices - Seems to wake TVs/amps up and toggle their inputs.

Mind you, good excuse to get yourself a nice new amp ;)

It is a pain in the butt, but I don’t want to get a new amp so close to E3.

I've already said this but having got a other PS5, it made me realise just how noisy my first one was.
Seems like it's just the luck of the draw. I can't hear mine at all but yeah some fans and coil whine is pretty loud on others. If there's a disk in it spins up at the start but that's nothing to me.

I know people blame scalpers, but I think it's CeX that has actually ruined the market....

Paying £100 more than retail (I think, I'm pretty sure it was higher last week than it is now...?) and selling for £750, basically creating a monopoly. My local branch has 10 in stock, not to mention the other stores also having stock within 10miles!

Yeah it's on par with the SX now. I'm also happy I just saw they changed the HDR options! So now it only comes on for supported games which is way better.

Probably been asked a millions times so sorry in advance!

Taken 6 months but I'm finally hovering pretty close to running out of storage now that I've got Mass Effect Legendary edition installed. What external drives would you guys recommend?

I've got an old Samsung 850 Evo that I'm not using anymore - would it be worth just buying an external caddy and using that or going down the NVMe route?

Cheers! :D

Had a VIP Code from Currys at the weekend... called them today and it will be here day after tomorrow!

Got Fifa 21 and COD coming also... gonna play a couple of PS4 Games on there as well, see how they look! Well excited.

NVMe is a waste because you are limited by the USB bandwidth. Best performance/price is a SATA SSD.

Your 850 EVO will be ideal, this is the adapter Digital Foundry recommend but if you want one that encloses the entire drive, just make sure it's USB 3.1 and supports UASP:

Ahh, never thought of the USB bandwidth! I'll just hang fire and get the NVMe drive whenever they unlock it.

Thanks! I've got an SSD bracket from my PC I might attach to the back of my TV unit and keep it there.

Thanks for the help, guys! :D

Update from the telegram channel, guy posted in there claiming he got an email from waitrose with a domain name that matches a fake waitrose site which is pretending to sell PS5's in stock for £400 a pop.

That channel seems rife with scalpers and scams.

They also dont know what day very drop is "any time this week".
