Is now the best time to sell your GPU?

The price of crypto is now rising so maybe they will sell though quick, maybe not. From what I can see people are still paying stupid prices for 30 series cards at least.
Highly unlikely any miners would buy in at those prices. There is limited time on Eth to ROI, with those prices it is a massive risk plus the resell value clearly now has taken a bit of a shine off things.

The london fork will be an unknown as to what will actually happen. yes ETH2 will change things, but after July is an unknown. Reddit is full of speculation that current pricing will be similar going forward for a few more months

Only £587 if you want cash! I think anyone who hasn't sold already has missed the boat.

Wonder if anyone scalped the OCUK 6800 drop yesterday to sell to CEX and has missed out. Might make future 6800s easier for gamers to buy, along with any other cards scalpers wanted to sell onto CEX. We can already see 6700xt staying in stock as they are overpriced for gamers and scalpers can't sell them to Cex for a profit

So we have a thread now on when to sell your GPUs and this forum was grade A for pointing the finger at the miners for soaking up all the cards (meant for gamers). Are people just selfishly cashing in on the status quo, or is this a sign that people aren't really gamers when there's money at stake?

I think its entirely sensible for gamers to use a situation they didn't create to their advantage, to upgrade their gaming card, eg if someone had bought a Nvidia 3060ti fe for £380 with p&p, sold it for £892, and bought a 6800 from OcUK yesterday for £940, they would now have a superior (apart from raytracing with dlss at the moment) 6800 at the price of £428. This was the best way to manage the massive increase in retail price

I think current block payout is about the same as 1559. 2eth to 3eth. I think on high volatility days, rewards will be higher as people wants to trade faster so more tips for miners.

But at the current rate 100MH is around $7-8/day or 0.003eth. It is a long time to ROI £2000 card.

Yeah I understand that pov.

People are misunderstanding my post, I am a gamer at heart too. There has been plenty of vilification of miners, yet all I see are people doing the best they can but there are massive contradictions at stake here. Even the OcUK staff are trying to facilitate the gamers (yes I agree this tag of 'gamers' is widely overused such as gaming chair) but your basically condoning that its ok to sell on your GPU if you can make a tidy profit - yet people are whining they cant get gpu's because of miners/scalpers..

Just took my 3080 FE down to the exchange place

Is it just me or is it crazy that they dont give you any knd of receipt to say you have dropped it off

The guy said my email I already got from them is my proof. How the hell does an email I got from the two days ago prove I dropped it off this morning?

Also, they said they have to send it to their Middlesbro store (I'm in newcastle) to test it, so it will be next week before I see the money.

I also have a couple of 3070's with a £900+ quote that I was going to drop off. But I wanted to make sure the 3080 sale went through ok first before I did so not sure what to do now.

I was quite unhappy about dropping off my 6800 without getting a receipt. I asked for something to prove I gave them the card and was told that I would get an email as soon as the card was booked in. I just hung around the shop for 10 minutes until the email came through.

Glad I'm not the only one. I find it absolutely mental they expect you to leave a £1500 item with them and you have no proof whatsoever you have dropped it off. What's even more strange is the guy behind the counter could not believe I was asking for a receipt. he made it sound like I was being ridiculous

This is normal with them but I always ask for a receipt as they are supposed to get you to sign a receipt to say that you agree to the gpu being tested and give you a receipt in return. If I ask for a voucher I use the membership rather than shop and drop, they always give the receipt to me then and the branch I use has always done the testing in half an hour and I go back and get the voucher.

Did you send them in at the same time? If so they will take a HUGE discount off the buy prices. It’s in their T&C
Here's my story:

The guy who served me said he'd waive the discount and said I'd get the full £3480. 20 mins later my emails say they will be transferring £1940. Mate.

I went back in saying that you offered a quote and I accepted it. They email the head price guy. 1 hour later they offered a reasonable full price for first card and 5% off the other three. Total received £3294. Not too bad for a bit of hassle.

Who knows what the best thing was to do for the future? All I know is that I've made £1258 on hardware that has mined me over 1 ETH.

My mate dropped his card with a North East store last week. They sent it to boro then days later claimed they didn't have his power cable. After he asked for cc tv they found the cable. Hes had an absolute nightmare.

If it involves money there is always hassle ;) Still, for a little hassle, in the scheme of things, I reckon you've had a great result there, I'd be very pleased with that.

Cheers bud. I appreciate a nice word once in a while on here!
P.S. I'm still mining at 88MH/s. Where we're going, we don't need roads!

With CEX dropping their prices it will work in favour of people holding out for better prices, with no possibilities for instant scalping it will deter a lot of the opportunistic scalpers.

Couldn't bring myself to sell my 3090, tried going back to my older card and it's too much of a drop. Noticed the price on my 20 series card has gone up about 20 quid while the 3090 price has tanked.
