Fastest Route from UK To Germany?

Hi, hope everyone is well!

Long story short I want to take my car to Germany, max it out on the autobahn and come back home (hoping for 190mph gps). Their is no direct ferry to Hamburg anymore, so I will have to go via another route. Any recommendations on which part of Germany to visit? Just looking for a good stretch of derestricted autobahn that I can drive on then come back. What is the fastest route to do this?
Anything else to be aware of?

Thanks!

Edit: I am aware of the current travel restrictions due to covid. This thread is for future planning purposes.

Unless you plan on doing this Autobahn run in the dead of the night you might be disappointed. The few times I’ve driven it you’ll just be getting up to a decent amount beyond the UK speed limit and you’ll come up against a bottleneck of trucks or similar. Most of the derestricted sections are only two-lane.

Just go to a VMAX event instead.

Oh and the fastest route to Germany isn’t in a car.

Why not just go to a track?
Or is this another one of your 'special' threads?
Their isn't a track long enough in the UK that I am aware of for me to max out the car. Even at Vmax it only hits 170mph.....

As above, the car maxes at 170mph at Vmax, looking to get over 190 ideally. Thus the Germany route, not aware of any long enough tracks in the UK.

As I said, the likelihood of you managing to get a clear enough run without death is slim to none.

Also remember that the Autobahn isn’t die straight or flat, and small undulations and curves become a lot more apparent at 150mph+

Get a faster car or tune it up as over 200 is possible at VMAX if your car has got the minerals.

Thanks for the honest feedback! Disappointing to hear lol

Trying to avoid this route, but will take a look and see what car's have trapped over 200mph at VMAX

You should be able to get up to Vmax on the A40 out of Venlo, but it's 2 lanes and rather bumpy. The A52 out of Roermond is even worse.
I believe AutoTopNL use the A73 between Duisburg and the border.

The A4 out of Aachen and down into Cologne is dead straight past Eschweiler and the massive brown coal mine, but the straight section has a speed limit. Either side is fair game, and the hill down into Cologne should see you reach silly speeds.
The A2 between Hamm and Bielefeld is 3 lanes and great for VMax, but it's quite a distance from the border.

If you want to go a little further south, you've got the A60. I took my Z3 down there after a trip to the Nurburgring. Nice long downhill straight once over the Belgian border. Again, two lanes though IIRC.

What car do you have anyway?

The best place to do this is a in a safe, controlled environment. Try outside a school at 08:30 and remember to film it on your phone.

He would prefer to do it at night, more clarity in the starlight headliner when it's dark you see.

I found the Autobahn to be a pretty scary place at speed, i'd suggest doing a decent reccy first of any stretch as there can be bumps and stuff which while ok at 70 would be terrible news at 150+

I got up to 140 on a stretch on my way to the 'ring and then shortly after went round a bend with huge bumps in the road and was seriously glad i'd slowed down by that point.

Personally i wouldn't go there just for that, if you happen to be in Germany anyway then yeah why not if the conditions allow but i'd feel a lot safer doing a track day or vmax day over here.
