Fastest Route from UK To Germany?

The best place to do this is a in a safe, controlled environment. Try outside a school at 08:30 and remember to film it on your phone.

And take selfies infront of the car, clearly showing the plates.

I think like the UK. The potholes control the speed in Germany now :D

Travelling at 190mph or more is serious, even more so when on a public highway with other cars. Travelling at 100mph-140mph doesn't really prepare you for the double tonne. Bends that are a challenge at 140mph can be life and death at 200mph. A car pulling out 1/2 mile up the road into your lane is a major incident in seconds at 200mph and stopping on anything but a perfect road in prefect conditions from 200mph is not a case of stamping on it. How a car acts at those speeds is very different, small inputs can become big in an instant, the aero of a fast car is a full work at those speeds and the suspension, engine, tyres and brakes all need to be on their A game to sustain it.

For me carrying over 200mph, which I have only done a couple of times in my life, makes me more nervous than racing. The potential for it going wrong seems much bigger oddly and the outcome is likely to be much worse. It isn't hard to do in the right car, but acceleration over 160mph slows down in most cars so you are going really really fast for a much longer time than you might on a runway even or on a closed road (ahem) in the UK getting to say 140mph. You need 800bhp + to do a proper 200mph on a runway event in the UK.

Looks good on Instagram tho bro.

That's what the M69 or M45 is for at 2am in the morning.
The M45 is amazing, virtually empty all day :D The M69 and M40 used to rarely have any police on them but that's changed over the years. The A5 and the M6 Toll were my favourites for *censored*mph. Just make sure your brakes are up to it and your tyres are fresh.

M6 Toll in my old RX7 at 3am a looong time ago (I had that car 14 years ago, crazy!) the guy in the toll booth asked me to give it lots of throttle on the way out and told me the road ahead was clear etc. To date the fastest I've driven in a car.

Did 140mph on the autobahn in my S2000, changing from the top of 5th to 6th the car actually slowed down with full throttle in 6th :D

My story about the toll road....

Some years back when the criminal fraternity decided they wanted my car (see old thread from years back), they attached a tracking device under the offside wheel arch of my RS4. Long story very short, they were caught after their place was raided, laptops found, cars being tracked at the time located from said laptops, knock on my door etc.....

Few weeks in, when the feds were collecting their evidence I was interviewed by serious crime boys and girls, who were great during the whole 18 month process keeping me updated. They had a print out, roughly 30-40 pages of A4 with my movements, by each junction mapped and speeds, from when the tracker was fitted, so around 3 days of driving time

I happen to know heading home from the place where said tracker was attached, close to midnight, on an empty toll road I felt an opportunity arose to extend my car. They had all that in front of them, clearly laid out, much to my chagrin. Their response was appreciated....

"We are serious crime, we are not really interested in speeding motorists......and I am sure the tracking device isn't accurate for such purposes, delivered with a wry smile."

Great policing. Of course was hardly over the limit.... ;), but nice of them to take a pragmatic approach.

Haha no way!? Lucky there was no stickler in their squad! Knowing my luck they'd have banged me up if that was me

I recall a time when they started to put vans and tripods on the bridges over the toll, that's when I stopped my shenanigans on UK motorways. Well, kind of :D

A cross country A/B road hoon is way more fun, anyway :) Man, I love the Midlands! :D

In my DC5 i remember hitting the rev limit in 5th which was 130mph and it was the only time i ever hit VTEC in 6th gear on that trip, good times!

Kids used to find that out the hard way on a stretch of dual carriageway near my old house to the point they changed the whole road layout. A challenging corner below 140 or so was lethal at speeds above unless you were an experienced, trained high speed driver - almost if not every summer growing up there'd be a fatal accident with youngsters leaving the road there at silly speeds soon after passing their test.

Wish I could find an older video or pictures of the road for comparison as it was quite an interesting layout.

No point you will never get to that speed due to traffic & road conditions. As @Housey said aero changes above certain speeds & small bumps or flaws in the road become serious issues to navigate I would forget about it & live to drive another day at safer speeds. Few road legal cars can accelerate quickly enough to achieve massive top speeds due to traffic congestion as you would not wish to travel at extreme speeds with other lanes busy as anyone pulls out on you its game over for anyone on the road at that time.

There was a very famous image taken by the italian police about 15-16 years ago of the aftermath of a Ferrari hitting the central reservation when the drive lost control at high speed & disintegrating
(their body & the passenger were nothing more than empty bags of skin due to the extreme speed & massive impact)
.

160 on a bike was fast enough for me, in this country pre speed camera days. Wasting your time trying to do 200 on the Autobahn, it's busier than you think.

I'd go to track.. I once had a go to max out my old car and at 130 on dual carriageway in France (not legal obvs) you sure as hell pooped if a lorry decided he needed to pull out to overtake another lorry about half a mile ahead as braking distances are not great. Car wasn't best of course.

What about that old man at the beginning of this year on the M1! He bought himself a modified R8 (I was told 1000+ bhp) for his birthday, on the way home from picking it up the car lifted off at speed and he flew over onto the opposite carriageway. Apparently his son was following behind and unfortunately witnessed the whole thing.

Gotta be careful with extremes.
