As title says really. Used to idle at like 210mhz and real low consumption. Nothing is obvious as to what is the cause. 3D settings set normal/quality mode, nothing asking for high performance.

Reinstalled new drivers etc.. Win10 did do an update of some kind like a week or 2 back, but I can't be for sure if this issue was occurring before the update as I've only just noticed the issue.

Any suggestions? Ty

Go to Nvidia control panel and make sure "Power Management Mode" in "Manage 3D Settings" is set to normal. When mine was set to maximum performance it was forcing 3D clocks.

It is set normal already as stated in first post mate :)

Ah fair enough. I didn't see power management mode mentioned.

Have you tried to put it to maximum performance, apply then switch back to normal and apply? Just incase a bug has happened. I'd suggest to make sure there wasn't hardware accelerated apps/browsers causing this but since you mentioned this happening at idle I don't think this is the case either.

Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I've just found the cause, it was nvidia broadcast.

It never caused this before, maybe it's the new version. Just uninstalled it and idle is 210mhz, real low consumption and 40c idle instead of fluctuating over 60c causing fans to go on and off.
