*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I’ve been looking on eBay for 3080’s and for some reason most people are selling FE, like there are loads of them on eBay somehow. It’s obvious where these scalpers have been buying the FE 3080’s from as they put the receipt of the companies name in the photo. There’s literally loads of FE’s on eBay which is odd considering current circumstances too.
It's not necessarily scalpers who brought and immediately look to sell the card as some will be gamers who have owned the card for a while and have decided to cash in while the price is high as quite a few on these forums seemed have done.

This ridiculous situation has turned out very good for me in that it's got me off my computer with no desire to go back (at the moment at least) - I'm simply not playing whatever game is being played out with these prices. Sold my 1080 ti for about what I paid for it and about to sell my 8KX headset because I'm simply not paying £2K for a card to run it. I genuinely feel liberated and that I have my life back. I forgot how much I enjoyed reading and the satisfaction of putting my mind into improving the house - I'd highly recommend anyone that might be feeling like they are being shafted to try it.

Well it's been announced - 'starting' at $1200.

The big nvidia F U has officially dropped.

I was lucky enough to get my 3080 in December. My cousin is still waiting on his ordered launch day and will probably now never see it.

No mention of supply ramp or anything of the like.

Not only that but the announcement seemed quite short in comparison to other GPU launches, at least from what I recall. Usually you’d get a lot more detail from them (I vaguely remember the 3070/80/90 launches involving longer keynotes), but it just kind of felt like the announcement was purposely rushed for me. You got the bare minimum of information from them to make an informed purchase decision (which was ‘if you have a 2080 Ti, you’re getting a 50% jump in performance’), and the chat on Twitch was also very much like “that was it?”. It feels like Nvidia are confirming more and more that they’re more interested in their B2B and corporate parts of the business rather than gamers…

Computex probably isn’t the place to discuss supply shortages, but I agree: at least something should have been said around ramping up production across the board. I’m getting tantalisingly close to getting my 3080 since ordering in early October, and I don’t want to jump ship just in case this announcement, by some miracle, is a sign of ramping up production. I’m not holding my breath, though…

Yeah, I think the most shocking thing was that it offered no direct comparisons to 3080/3090 at all. That was like most of the keynote though - numbers of frames with DLSS and RTX on certain game with zero mention of the hardware they attained those frames on.

Mind you, at this point what do we expect from them :D

I expect muh GPU! :D

In all seriousness though, it was probably done for those who got 20 series and wanted to see if it is worth the expenditure to upgrade if you can jump on a queue early. The 2080 Ti for example still sells for anywhere between £900-£1100 depending on model (ask me how I know lol) on <insert well-known auctioning site here>, so if you were sitting on that and managed to get a 3080 Ti from an AIB, you’ve upped your performance by a massive margin for only a few hundred quid.

Add to that the fact they probably don’t want to compare it directly to the 3090, which is probably a massive cash cow for them at the moment considering the huge demand, and any sensible direct comparison to the 3090 will involve the 3090’s sales being cannibalised lol. The gap between the 3080 and 3090 was already pretty small, so it’ll be interesting to see where this GPU fits in and how many people in 3080 queues are willing to take the gamble for a good queue position on the Ti.

Holy ****... MY WATCH HAS ENDED. I am finally receiving my TUF 3080 OC... It's been a journey of checking the forums/updates multiple times a day, for more than 6 months... I can finally delete the bookmark and enjoy the SPEEED. Hope you get yours too soon guys, patience is a virtue! You GOT THIS!~ <3
