nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti/3070-ti reviews thread

my only hope is that somehow nvidia get done in by their own greed like this did last time they tried to capitalise on a terrible landscape for their customers and took a massive stock dip as a result.

I don’t see why it would. These are cut down 3090s so it’s a valid move to get more options out there - it’s not like they can use those chips elsewhere.

The price Is madness. The cooler Is not so good.

3080ti FE is a bad deal. I imagine half of these cards die before the end of a warranty .

But hey planned obsolescence .

I understand that these are less cut down versions of the GA102 chip which they also use to make the 3080. Those who have waited for a 3080 since launch day are now seeing that chip going to make bigger profits for Nvidia in the form of a 3080ti, instead of being cut down to meet launch day demand for the 3080. I'm actually feeling vindicated in my 3090 purchase thanks to the extra VRAM and the bigger cooler. My bank account is definitely feeling the hit, though.

If that’s then case then I would agree.

The 3090 is a niche card, as with 4K - the larger audience is with the 3080 and under so if they could get more of those out but opted not to, that’s a weak move.

2-3 years ago would we have ever thought such a recommendation would even be suggested.

(TechPowerup) The RTX 3080 at $1500 is still a very compelling alternative to a $2000 RTX 3080 Ti; the break-even point for price/performance would be 10%, so $1725. Against the Radeon RX 6900 XT—$2100 currently—the RTX 3080 Ti will be the better choice because it offers better overall performance and better RT, with higher power draw, though. Last but not least, possibly the strongest competition for GeForce, and for the PC gaming market overall, comes from game consoles, which can be found for well under $1000 and will play all the new games as well, although perhaps with slightly worse graphics, but the money saved can buy you a 4K TV and a lot of games.

I mean, technically:

The 3080 RRP is the same RRP as the 2080
The 3080ti RRP is the same RRP as the 2080ti

What's the problem? Supply, not Nvidia's price so you can hop off ya bandwagon

Wasn't the 2080ti quite a bit faster than the 2080 or am i remembering wrong.
