Just take note that it is a dual rail PSU, so when you connect the pcie connectors to the GPU, you will need to use both cables and cannot daisy chain the power connectors.

Any Intel, or just a K series?
As I am running an i5-11400, the 3080 would usually be overkill, but I do want to drive a vr headset sometimes, which I believe would benefit from the 3080.
 
It's overpriced for what it is and only has 672w across it's 12v rails. If you shop around you could get the excellent ADATA XPG Core Reactor 750W for just under £95 with free delivery. It's gold rated, fully modular, has a 10 year warranty and has all of it's 750w available on a single 12v rail. It's a much better PSU than the BeQuiet.

If you want to stick with OCUK then I would go for either the Bitfenix Formula Series 750w (£2 cheaper and 50w more) or increase the budget for the fully modular Corsair RM750 or Phanteks Amp 750 both of which have a 10 year warranty.
 
Unfortunately too late, I already have the Be Quiet, though I did pay £15 less as I jumped on a deal. The Phanteks Amp would actually have been perfect, sigh.

The original plan was a 3070, so I bought the 700w before getting a gpu, but as dumb luck would have it I tried several times and couldn't get one, but I got a 3080fe first try. So far so good, but I am being extra careful and vigilant just in case.

Glad it’s working for you but it’s not something to recommend. It’s 750W minimum for 3080/3090.

Online PSU calculators tend to wildly over exaggerate requirements, either because they need to compensate for poor quality power supplies that don't deliver rated power or because they're trying to make you spend more money.

Frankly you'd probably be fine with a good 650W on the average non-overclocked system, although I'd generally recommend going for more headroom if you can.

The difference in price between a 650W and 750W is like a tenner. If you already own a 650W by all means try it but if buying new it wouldn’t be wise to recommend anything under 750W.
